the worst is when sample clearances cause them to use a different beat or completely take the song off the album

like, I HATE the verison of TI, Lets Get Away thats on streaming cause they had to change the cadence of the hook and take off Keri Hilson...shyt is like nails on a chalkboard to me compared to the og.....or on Mia X album, they couldnt use the stevie wonder sample so they got a generic ass beat for "You and Me"........Smoking Green not on the TRU album cause of the Isley brother sample... some of Biggie's songs got fukked up cause of samples...shyt like that

i still have all my cds and itunes library but it just sucks for the convenience of having everything in your phone
External drives usbs and larger storage capacity phone.

I been considering placing my entire iTunes on my phone.

Been telling people this for years.

Cats "renting" music on these streaming services when the label can alter or remove shyt with zero notice, and you have no recourse.

I'm good on that.

To each his own, but why ruin a CLASSIC song by cutting it a minute short in an era where song length/space is a non-issue?

More than likely this was a previous cd version uploaded to all the platforms, which they shorted the songs to fit on the cd

Still no excuse IMO. This is a diamond selling album...it should be preserved the way it was made
I hear you bro..... it's weird af that they would do that

My only guess is they have calculated that shorter songs = more streams = more bread

But I agree, it is stupid and pointless to do that

I recently noticed on all streaming platforms Usher's Confessions album is a new "Expanded Edition"....however this so called expanded version cuts the song lengths down greatly.

I was listening to "Can You Handle It", and all of a sudden the song starts fading out way earlier than I remembered. :mjtf:

I looked at my personal version, and the song is 5:45 in length...this new "expanded" edition version is 4:40. That's a whole minute chopped off a classic song on that album! :what:

And others are chopped too.

Ridiculous. Keep your own collections brehs.

You need to post this on Twitter or something. This shyt would go viral and then people would be poiting out the other albums and songs this happened to

I've been telling people this for years.

Streaming is cool, but I still prefer having my millions of mp3's on my phone with the artwork, and all the stuff I digitized from old CD's and cassettes, and even vinyl. You can't even find everything on streaming, and I'm too shook to rely on that as my source for music. I spent forever building my own library before streaming was a thing. So I've kinda just stuck with that. Keep your external HD's full of music and just roll with them on your phone.

Mixtape/blog era the main example of this. Sample clearances done neutered a bunch of classics now that they're on streaming. And some albums and tapes only survive on people's hard drives around the world.

I got all the CDs I ever bought or burned, plus 3-4 hard drives with all the music I've discovered, been put on to and loved since i started bootlegging and buying music in 2003. MySpace exclusives, blog exclusives, loosies, shyt that was only on Ares/Kazaa and various P2P platforms etc etc
