Where I am from the neighborhood would have taken care of its own and dissolved that situation. When you got kids out there fighting its the adults responsibility to dead that ish. What that girl needed was someone to get her our of that temporary rage and chill.

We have decades now of kids growing up with no positive construct on how to live like a decent human being. Society is completely phucked in 30 years this place is gonna be like Biff Tannen Casino in Back to the Future 2.

I used to read comics growing up. Found out I can read entire collections for free nowadays online, including old marvel comics. I was shocked at what I found.

All the advertisements back in the 60s were motivating kids to make extra money by learning how to fix things, with auto mechanic being the top push.

Fast forward to the 80s and all the ads were for breakfast cereals saturated with sugar. Toys. Buy this! Buy that! Buy! Buy! Buy!

Not every police shooting is a straight up civil rights issue.

With that said, the police need to be trained to deescalate and subdue without using lethal force.

Stop shooting people center mass.

Try firing a warning shot.

Carry non lethal weapons.

It’s not as complicated as the police defenders try to make it.

no disrespect breh but real life ain’t like the movies, even shooting center mass you are still more likely to miss than hit in high stress situations. It’s not really possible to shoot for the arm or leg. Also warning shots have to go somewhere, bullets don’t just disappear.

I agree cops gotta deescalate, they never do, but there was no deescalating this situation. As matter of fact, why didn't the father deescalate?

Shooting bullets in the air is dangerous, they can come back down and kill somebody. Shooting someone in the leg, you hit that major artery and they basically die instantly

There was no better solution. A taser is a one shot opportunity. You can miss, hit clothing, or have it not get stuck inside the skin. And even if you connect, there's still a possibility of muscle function or the girl may spasm with the knife. When those are possible shooting is your best bet. Warning shots don't work because whatever bullet you shoot in the air can come down and kill somebody.

The cop saved the girl in the pink, that's all there is to the story.

My biggest issue is his shooting to kill vs shooting to disarm her.

Makayla was unfortunately a product of her environment. I remember growing up a girl coming to fight my sister -we were latch key kids so no adults were around. They fought and left. This is nothing new.

But weapons,knives etc weren’t present.That makes this darker...

Im glad the other girl was saved. I’m hoping she’s okay.

when you point a gun at someone it means you can be shot- its deadly force-

the same as with a knife - you can die JUST as quickly from being stabbed as you can from being shot

i cant belive how there is ANY conflict about this - the appropriate solution occured - the person who threatened to stab a person by swinging a knife at them got shot - and everyone is taught to pull the trigger until you see the person is down and if its 1 time or 4 thats what it took -

damn...after watching the video, i hate to say it, but the cop was actually in the right. he could've shot her when she attacked the first girl, but still didn't shoot. and then for some stupid reason, she decided to go try and stab girl in the pink while her dumbass dad kicked the other girl in the head who was down on the ground. his dumbass is lucky he didn't get shot too. but i can't blame the cop for poppin her when she was clearly about to stab the other girl in the chest or face and he had to make a split second decision. there was no time to try and detain them. only thing different was if they had considered tasing her but who's to say that would've stopped her from stabbing the other girl. all in all, the lack of parenting and stupid ass adults failed them. this should've been diffused far before cops were even called.

Warning shots is strictly a TV/Movie thing. Cops are trained to shoot only with the intention of lethal force. Like you said a warning shot can still kill somebody albeit unlikely.
