In a way, he was kinda like “Carlton before Carlton” but a more toned-down version.

I don't think his character was lame, but I could understand why he probably felt that way, as he says, Theo being “America's favorite White Black boy”, in general, the Cosby Show was White America's favorite Black family during that period of TV.

Theo had zero in common in with Carlton Outside of being from a 2 parent black home. They weren't even in ithe same wealth class.

Theo was far from corny. Malcolm Jamal Warner was corny.

Eddie Winslow was corny. And the kid from “Parent ‘Hood”, the Robert Townsend sitcom.

They’re all Michael Evans and Gary Coleman’s kids:salute:

What made Eddie corny?

I appreciated the character but watching Good Times as an adult it's obvious Michael Evans was a whole fakkit.

I'm not talking about the actor, who is gay, but his homo mannerisms bled so much into Michael, it made the character a homo too.

Michael Evans gave off total "Him downstairs" energy with his sassy, eye-rolling ass. :dame:

shyte is a pathology

especially when you get all the things folks call corny are characteristics of individuals from healthy successful families

folks really aspire to be losers

Apparently the Cosby Show was getting a lot of backlash back in the day from the "Theo's corny" crowd for being unrealistic and promoting respectability politics. :dead:

What the fukk was “white” about Theo? :what:

I cant tell if the quote is saying hes white peoples favorite black boy or not.

But yall are rewriting history. Cosbys was beginning to be seen as corny by the early 90's. Hood representation was more prevelant in t.v and media. Theo was not that, and the Cosbys werent the least bit edgy. Was probably comparing himself to Fresh Prince too
