What people seem to forget about some of the riots in the 60's is that there is damage done that is still is present today. Not every local business is going to come back and it will not hurt white people, only black. It is going to hurt the people all ready hurting and do nothing to further or advance our causes. None of you celebrating this destruction of our communities will be donating money to rebuilding efforts or help with repair. I really think those promoting this do not live in these communities or revel in carnage and chaos, no matter who it is directed to.

Above the fray.
you got your answer man, you just didn’t like the answer you got. every question we have on racial matters has long been answered, and by those much more qualified than us.

our problem is we’re always looking to recreate the wheel, and are usually looking to those most unqualified to do it.

today is no different than yesterday. you think more Black businesses were destroyed today than in the riots back in the 60’s?.

The people who lived through the 67 riots in Newark helped prevent riots from breaking out in 2020.

Black Empowerment/Reparations For ADOS
I actually asked for your thoughts. People can quote Malcolm X and post his comments every day, I was asking you about the actions taken TODAY and how they stifle the concept of "the Negro standing own feet and solving own problems"

It was exposed that it's white supremacists going undercover as antifa and ally protestors who are targeting and destroying and looting specifically black businesses. How do you think these white supremacists should be punished? Prison? Death penalties? Life in prison? Beaten?

But the line he said about "the Negro solving his own problems and standing on his own feed" translates into Black entrepreneurs creating businesses and employing their own people.

The current riots and looting have turned a lot of that work to ashes by destroying those very businesses.

Your thoughts?
I don’t agree with looting local shyt. Black owned stuff.

but black people practice capitalism in the spirit of white Americans - selfish. What Malcolm is talking about is what people did more of in the 60s and 70s. Communities looking after their own. Businesses serving the community first and foremost. The panthers continued that spirit

Read the Chicago Protest Thread and see Coli members confirm that Black owned businesses that fit the criteria you just outlined were looted, damaged, or destroyed.

Your thoughts?

Life requires tradeoffs and placing priotities on a hierarchy, one could argue that justice for Black life and the undermining of violence by the state trumps the maintenance or cultivation of Black business.

You’re always going to have a certain destructive element that seeks to take advantage in times like these. It’s always been that way and will always be that way, regardless of race.

and that’s not even dealing with the sociopolitical aspect within the racial context Malcolm was speaking on.

Besides, there was nothing stopping Black people from mobilizing to protect the Black businesses in our communities this time around. So what we have to ask ourselves is why didn’t it happen?

I can tell you one main reason: Because most of those ā€œwell-intentionedā€ Black people were content to sit online talking about doing good or about ā€œwhat needs to be doneā€ instead of going out in the street and actually doing something.

I imagine it’s a good thing they didn’t have the internet back then. People actually had to get off their asses on go do something.

Once we embraced integration (which he was against) we lost the ability to protect our business.

Money burrowed from white owned banks, and businesses located in white communities. That’s not us standing on our own feet and solving our own problems.

That’s just full integration into the white capitalist system.

Besides..

They are killing Black people with impunity on film right now.. Somethings need to be prioritized.

There is no honor in becoming the dead former owner of a Black business.

Let's separate the demonstrations, from the pillaging.
If you could explain to me how pillaging and looting advances getting justice for Black life or undermines violence by the state, I'd be willing to listen.
