laidoff.. he hasnt been able to get a job like he had and is refusing to settle for an average job:francis:

This is real shyt. I'm in HR and I'm personally helping a dude who was laid off in 2023 and cannot get back to the same level he was laid off at. Even within the company I work (this is saas fyi)

I've seen hundreds of overqualified applications and even helped people get a job 2-3 levels below their last role.

Hell my old manager was laid off and brought back in a non management position. Even after having a phenomenal year in 2024

I'm telling yall DO NOT fukk WITH THIS JOB MARKET RIGHT NOW. You will be ass out :dame:

When you spend a year living in the projects, living pay check to pay check, deciding between warmth or food… trust me, it humbles you in a big way. And teaches you empathy too. :francis:

Yeah ive been hearing of folks who were being “picky” in this job market while laid off, where my background is like its easier to find a job when you have one so just try to get something even thought that may be easie rsaid than done

Be thankful?

How about just be smart and don't live above your means? You can make $500k/year, but if your bills are $500k/year :francis: He did it to himself.

Folks was living like the joneses with no plans of a rainy day.
You half make sense. Don’t live above your means for sure.

I know someone who had a big emergency fund that they had to deplete while looking for a new job. Only to find a job and later get laid off again before they could re-up.

Fortunately was able to find something else but one can make great moves and things can still happen.

I graduated after the financial crash. Worst fukking timing. Moved to NYC thinking things would start picking up. Then Occupy Wall Street happened. :dead: Like Gawd Damn, can a Breh get a break?

I’m living in the most ghetto hood of Flatbush, working some bull shyt retail job, barely keeping my head above water. I could’ve gone back home but nah, I needed to figure this shît out myself, I wasn’t gonna be defeated.

Eventually, through luck and determination, I networked with the right people through my retail Job. An old white guy put me on and I haven’t looked back since.

From barley keeping my head above water to earning six figures within 2 years was a blessing. It just made me grateful that I kept going because if I gave up and went home, I would’ve be stuck at square one.

Thats the problem

Any job where u can get work is better than not settling and in and out of hotels

Im just assuming dude is the type of person who cares what others think of him and doesn’t want to hear the whispering of him working a 9-5 20 dollars a hour job

I realized a long time ago, even though is 100 Trillion dollars in global trade every year and only 8 billion people (~5 Billion working age), there are never enough jobs for the people who want jobs, never enough employers for the employees...
