The Truth
I have an issue with peoples mentalities, not their living situations

Sorry to hear this though. Hope he gets back on his feet but at least she stuck with him. Sometimes you got to take the lesser role.. trust me, did it many times

This is real shyt. I'm in HR and I'm personally helping a dude who was laid off in 2023 and cannot get back to the same level he was laid off at. Even within the company I work (this is saas fyi)

I've seen hundreds of overqualified applications and even helped people get a job 2-3 levels below their last role.

Hell my old manager was laid off and brought back in a non management position. Even after having a phenomenal year in 2024

I'm telling yall DO NOT fukk WITH THIS JOB MARKET RIGHT NOW. You will be ass out :dame:
Yeeeeeeeeep.

If you are gainfully employed, stay right where you are.

Why didn't they downsize after job loss?
When the income stops you have to adjust.
He could have gone from a million dollar home to a 400K home

Lots of mid career executives can't find jobs in their fields after a down turn. They have the network, experience, and skill set, but the hiring types are looking at younger people with lower salary requirements and less likely to get sick.
It depends on the job there’s alot of young people who can’t find jobs because they don’t have experience and have a bad stigma of work ethic and they have a higher turnover so this isn’t always true.

This is why I shake my head when I see these young fitness influencers buying 100k cars.

That money not gonna be coming in forever.

Why do you need a 100k mercedes at 21? You are probably going to crash that shyt.

Wife just told me she spoke to an old friend of ours, this woman and her husband 5 years ago were living in a half a million dollar home, he had 2 sports cars and a truck and she had a lexus SUV, beautiful kids going to private school and the wifes mother living in the guest house. She broke down on the phone with my wife, today they are living out of a motel, driving a 2003 honda accord and they have $300 between the both of them and they dont know what they are going to do.

He lost his job in 2022 and never recovered :francis: ....Be thankful for what you have brehs.
Sounds like they were living above their means or right at the edge of it. No way you should be making a certain amount of money to own (or most likely finance) all of that and to be that screwed. The lesson is not to be thankful for what you have, but to be financially responsible.

As long as my bills are paid and my essential needs are met, everything else can wait.
