Right: If they don't want to die in a car accident because no matter how many precautions you take the chance is still there to die in a car accident if you ride or drive a car, you can't abort a car accident.
Taking precautions before sex does NOT guarantee you won't impregnate someone or become pregnant.
They only travelled to places within walking distance or horse driven buggy distance.
