A better analogy would be: if you don't want to be in a car accident then don't drive a car with faulty wiring/ don't drive so recklessly. Of course, it's still possible to get in a car accident if you do this but you will massively reduce your chances of getting into one- just like you'll reduce your chances of getting pregnant if you practice safe sex diligently.
