It doesn't set ANY precedents because vaccination is a REQUIREMENT for transplants as is weight loss, abstaining from smoking, abstaining from alcohol, cancer treatability, etc.

If you're not a good candidate, they either delay the surgery until you are, or, remove you from the list.​

This guy is showing a clear lack of critical thinking skills. His heart is bad, covid can fukk up your heart. The vaccine will increase your odds of avoiding serious illness. And this man said "nah I'm good" to the thing that would increase his chances of not dying. If they give him a heart transplant and he catches covid and dies, what will you tell the person who was vaccinated and wanted that heart? and they already refuse transplants to people who refuse to quit drinking or smoking, if anything they have a harder time since they can't just stop.

Dude literally just had to take the shot. The doctors said "you'd be safe if you did" and he said "nah". If you've ever worked in health care you understand how extremely frustrating people can be. You get to the point where you have to basically say "Okay, I respect your choice in how you want to live, and also how you want to die. This is just not negotiable. You either take what we're offering you, or we will give it to someone else who will" and that's the end of the discussion. Organs, medical care, and medicine itself isn't like T-shirts mass produced at costco or fast food. It is a scarce resource at the best of times and every year you're expected to do more with less. Doctors, nurses, social workers, etc. do not have time to argue with people who think they know better when there are at least a dozen others who are ready to do what it takes without issue.
