consoles changing are called next gen.
look at what is happening, as a next gen console comes out developers need about 2-3years to get accustomed one new platform, and you want everyone to have different specs?
no matter how much you say PC Gaming is the future you have to understand reality.
how often do PC Gamers, the avg gamer upgrade their PC Specs, it ain't every two months breh, upgrading is expensive.
a new graphics card that's worth upgrading within the same 2 years could cost up to $500!!!!

you can't expect that type of market to be the future, it just makes zero economical sense.
But these consoles have parts comparable to mid level graphic cards on PC. I understand that it will take a while for developers to get used to the technology, but in that two to three year window, who knows where we'll be with technology. 4k is becoming cheaper and in 5 years I could see it becoming more common in households. I don't think these consoles can support playing games in 4k.

That's why I think these consoles should try something different like becoming modular in order to keep up with advancing tech.

but mid level graphics is the large majority of the market.
most TV shows aren't 4k compatible so of course games aren't yet either.

you are asking the industry to move unreasonably faster than the market, that would only drive price higher which would widen the gaps in specs that you speak of now.

your desired approach is basically the end of gaming as we know it
not only that but such fast adoption of new technologies would only create way more new competing technologies.
like blu ray vs HD DVD, where HD DVD buyers lost money.
or DLP vs. rear projection LCD vs. plasma vs. projector vs. LED vs 3D.
You would get more competing technologies to exploit such a rapid ever-changing market adoption.
Then you would get more losers in the end, spending thousands of dollar on losing technologies.
And even the winners would lose because they'd only win for a short period of time until something new came out way too quick.

its all redundant anyway. the future is pc gaming/oculus. .
lmao at this shyt not everybody is willing to spend crazy amount of money to buy/fix up PCs just to game, you see it now with consoles lowering their prices or coming out with bundle deals. Alot of folks dont want to sit at the computer just to game they like their couch, bed, gaming chair and a big ass HDTV.

And the oculus is just a gimmick for now..something you put on say cool play for awhile and go right back to consoles.

I wonder what games were sooooo good back when the ps3/360 launched because I remember ignoring launch day for those consoles and copped a Wii. I copped a 360 in 07 and PS3 in 2010.

Prior to that PS2 and Gamecube had me :eat: good.

are games really improving like that in general though? nintendo is rehashing every franchise x1000 and how are any sports games different etc? i dont know it just seems foolish to think you got to keep buying consoles every gen for all that. everybody been playing videogames since they were kids...maybe theres just a burnout point.

I agree. Thankfully Wii U has some solid titles to hold us through this drought.

I need that next gen Red Dead asap.

The Wii U????

You nikkas act like you never went through a console launch before :smh:

Yall keep having these crazy expectations in year 1(hell it's been what, 6-7 months????) and gonna end up disappointing yourselves endlessly. I understand yall ready for the next-gen but damn, yall expecting too much too soon.

Give the shyt time. There's a huge gap in what the PS3 and 360 was doing at first, and what they can accomplish now.

Dumb ass thread. Had they chosen to push the consoles back devs would be more likely to just put the game on last gen instead of next

right now Im looking forward to Metal Gear and Arkham Knight, those two games alone are worth my PS4 to me and Im sure as time goes on we'll see awesome entries from Ubisoft, Santa Monica, Rockstar, Naughty Dog and so forth that will make another great console.

You just gotta give it some time, brehs

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
It's not that pc gaming is the future necessarily but consoles are going to have to change the something. With how fast graphical technology is advancing, these consoles are going to be obsolete in a few years instead of the 10 year life cycle Sony and Microsoft are attempting to sell us.

You can use a controller on pc if you didn't know though.
yea but then the companies will just sell you a new system, and people will buy it

i get what you're saying.. cause with a computer.. i can upgrade next week and have something 10 times better than the ps4... and what could i upgrade to in 5 years vs ps4 still being the same

but you're not taking into account that most people ain't doing that shyt.. most people who buy computers aren't going for top of the line anything.. they aren't doing their gaming on it either. they definitely ain't buying a computer, then turning around and buying 200 dollars in extra memory, then turning around and buying 200 plus for great video cards... then buy a controller... then buy the game.......... THEN get 2-3 uninterrupted hours on their computer to play

it's much easier to buy a gaming console, play the games there... get a dell (highest selling computer in the world) and use it for work/facebook/internet and call it a day.. and that's facts... cause that's exactly what the sales of all these devices are telling you.

gaming companies are starting to not even release games on pc for that reason.. the highest selling pc games on steam are the free to play type games that you'd find on a cell phone.. ain't nobody trying to play 2k14 or madden or cod or titanfall on a damn pc.. not in comparison to the sales of the consoles

high tech gaming costs a lot of money to keep up with the times.. and a lot of know how in order for common man joe to figure out

Launch lineups were weak but I think people are expecting too much this early. I dont think any of my favorite 360 or ps3 games dropped in the first year but looking back both systems provided countless great titles. 360 didnt even have hdmi, talk about rushed.

As for the future of gaming, it's streaming, eg. onlive.com, playstation now etc. Once we all have the internet connection to support these services where lag is no longer an issue there will be no reason to purchase new consoles or video cards. All hardware upgrades will be done server side and all you'll need is a controller and login/password. Gaming will become what netflix is now only on a larger scale. I could see this happening at the end of the ps4 xbone life cycles in order to skip next gen hardware. Imagine everyone having 4k games at ultra settings that are constantly being upgraded visually as the hardware in servers is upgraded. It's the only logical step.

Japan, but from the 989
I agree with both systems were rushed. But I like my PS4. Only a few games but I think it will be worth it in the long run. (Still playing Watch Dogs)

360 and ps3 are whats holding watch dogs back. not the ps4/xbox one. until they start focusing solely on the new consoles the games are going to be lacking somewhat

Exactly. I hate to say it and I know they have huge install bases but the games that are multi tier/ multi platform won't be able to pull away from last gen unless it's on a new engine (NBA 2K).

This is also the 1st gen I've decided to just rent games.
