I should prolly clarify and say guardian instead of BM, because either can petition the court for changes to the agreement in place, but generally speaking, more times than not, the mother gets guardianship, so she files for the support. Even in the situation where one parent signs their rights over in exchange for not paying support, that agreement can be modified by the parent serving as guardian if the "need" arises. If you have a child, whether you claim it or not, there is always the possibility you end up on papers.

I don't think it's about being afraid of child support per se, and I really don't feel like it's fear.
