I think engines are pretty durable. I have been looking into it. It's really the servicing and electronics. Remember the 745i?If you knew how to rebuild engines, you could save a lot of money on a luxury car buy buying a high mileage MB or BMW and rebuilding the engine. You would be able to drive that engine for over a 100,000 miles.
The main things that wear down are the piston rings and gaskets and seals. Those parts, all by themselves, are relatively inexpensive. You would also replace the head studs and water pump too. Taking the block out, disassembling the block, cleaning it out, re-boring the piston cylinders, reassembly and putting the block back in are the major things stopping your average person from doing it themselves. The cylinder head would probably only need to get the exhaust and intake valves reshimmed if you didn't want to take it apart for a thorough cleaning.
They are like 6K now.... hella transmission problems and failing electronics. Back in the day if you could keep up with mechanical stuff and maintenance it was fine but now you need to have a computer science degree to keep these shyts running. shyt makes no sense to me because something like a transmission or a blower fan is the same in this as it is in a Civic............ and the Civic cost like 1/5th the price new.... but all the shyt on the Civic will work for 20 yrs

11k for a 6 yr old civic
350hp for 4k....probably would've been a money pit tho
