Uh, you have to get promoted. So you got to put in a lot of time. Its almost like jail or slavery, if you want to look at it like that. 10 years later, you hope to have moved up from burger flipper or cashier. If you haven't been promoted in 10 years, then you should move on.

160k is GREAT in silicon valley if you are single person. Everyone makes a huge deal out of the living expenses out here, but I am self employed and only bring in about 80 to 130 a year depending on how well I do, and Im living very well.

You aren't going to be balling like if you lived in some shytting southern city, but it isn't as bad as people make it seem.
