Starting reading this since it's getting an anime out next season. I enjoyed the first volume. There is a bit of wordplay with the Japanese word Shuumatsu. Weekend and as well as "End of the World." At its core, it is a SoL sci-fi series with the Weekend part of Shuumatsu. There are things, like with Cyborg and his family that have a surprising depth to them that I wasn't expecting.

Reading through the first volume, 1, in this, the execution was solid. Basically it's ninjas vs. yakuza. The interesting part is the friendship developing between Shinoha & Kiwami. Especially when in this volume where Kiwami kills Kai. Curious where the Ninja power comes from because it feels a bit absurd in strength. Perhaps it's a curse? Though with more of the core members being introduced, it should get interesting.

Land of Monsters - Chapter 28:

It's rather interesting that Oki's friends started off as more abstract but evolved into those animals around them. Though other animals would become monsters rather than animals, interestingly enough. Though love being used for a reason that becomes like an animal or human is interesting. Though it does make me wonder, is that when Rabi turned into a demi-human? Though Hona saying he can't transform after being human is interesting since none of the other friends were more human.

It is clear that Hona cares for Oki and is at least an ally. Though he mentions that Oki is with Jessi Kabula. Which leads to confusion about who took the girl with Oki's soul if not Alfur. Or is the term with someone different from mentioning Oki's soul?

Wandance - Volume 5:

I really like the mention of how dancing is more of an art than a sport. Highlight Iori's dance battles in this volume. Especially the point that art is based on your creative freedom, and dancing for someone's sake is forgoing that freedom. Though with Iori's characterization, what On-chan says is more than true as Iori dances for himself and the love of the art.

@tripleaamin lemme find out Kagurabachi actually ended up being peak :ohhh: I see way more people seriously talking about it now. People saying the paneling is on the level of Fujimoto

If so we gotta give the creators credit :pachaha:everyone trolled that story in the beginning but also gave it so much attention that if it ended up being good they already have a huge base who knows about it

I don't think it's Fujimoto level, but paneling is definitely great now. Though character designs honestly bother me . Still, things started coming together during the auction arc. That arc was simply outstanding.

Now a big fan of the 3rd arc, but you can see the improvement in the paneling to make it a more cinematic experience. I need to catch up with this and some of the other Sunday Jump stuff after this anime season is over.

Read through the first volume here; so far it's decent. The barbarian side has the classic enemies who are better than what we think they are. Meanwhile, the kingdom of Illdoren kind of seems like an ass with their viewpoints. Looking at some flashbacks, curious how it goes from here.

Wandance - Volume 6:

Assay's thoughts on Kabeya are interesting. HE simply voted for Kabo simply because Kabeya had the fact that he gave up. Kind of harsh, but when you view dancing as an art, lacking that confidence is a big turnoff. It is one kind of art where you can see the person's face as they are performing, and if that is missed, that could ruin how you look at a performance.

Man, the art and paneling are really coming into their own in this volume. :wow:

Honestly, the mention that Wanda's dad has hearing problems and she is very patient with Kabo's stuttering makes it add up and probably implies she loves her dad. It's clear it's talent, but her backstory chapter implies her work ethic is insane. As she has Assay covering her fee for the choreography showcase & Iori getting offers to teach after his victory in the dance battle really shows, much like in life, if you show up in your performance, people will want you. Of course, for Kabo who couldn't get it done, now he's going to need to commit more time to getting a job to give him an opportunity; if not, he will be far behind Wanda.

But man, Iori getting washed by Assay makes sense, but it really shows how much crafting your art can put you at a certain level above everyone and why people look at these professionals advice.

Well, Nodoka & Kousei are both dead, having defeated each other. It shows how powerful the drug is, but it still begs the question, why are ninjas so strong? It is interesting to see how, for both of these men, they had people who gave them a home. They are both good men, though seeing how many people ally or not that Kiwami is willing to kill is definitely disturbing. Though he does say he is going to kill the old-school Yazuka. You still have a good amount of players still left, which will make things interesting.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Chapter 144:

Interesting conversation of the emperor in Series's dreams. Serie fully believes she is going to die, but the Emperor believes himself that her death would not be beneficial to them. Fräse is still a wild card with her actions. Curious how it plays out.

Jessi has not swallowed Alfur, but countless countries. Though her human vibe is strikingly ordinary. For Cero though, we're diving into mental a bit because we know she hates monsters. But her dedication to Rabi is clear, as she is willing to eat the monster's flesh. Curious what would be the. Consequences of this, though, I doubt she would turn into a monster like Rabi.

Wandance - Volume 8:

More of a setup volume. Though it's a good discovery from Kabo, he wants to do more battle, which leads him to learn Breaking from Kabe. Though On-chan showing as a big mentor in the best way, making him realize he can do battles & shows. More than likely Wanda plans to do both and wants him to do the same.

I have to say I am surprised how much focus Utsuro has gotten in a good way since I figured she would be more of a comical yandere type. She was clearly influenced by her mom in the worst ways. For Utsuro she only wanted guys to look at her and was very extreme about it.Alma's point of her never looking at them makes sense because she never saw the pain she was inflicting on them. As in the past, she would ask, Why are they leaving Utsu? She is on the stage of some nice character development in this arc.

Though I do expect major focus to come back to Nei since I expect Shizuka to come to play here with the base being attacked.

Wandance - Volume 9:

I like how this volume takes the concept of art but recognizes that in terms of battles (in this case, 2 on 2), there are times that you want to have a set choreography. It is interesting that through dance, Kabo seems like his old self as it gets mentioned. I wonder what that is about.

Wandance - Volume 10

Interesting introduction to suicide moves, but in a dance battle it makes sense for their use. Once again the topic of Kabo shows that his heart is in battle rather than contests. Iori even knows. Even though On loves how Kabo puts his heart in the art of the dance, you can't help but think at some point that there needs to be a heart for the contests like he has for battles.

Social media is one factor where dancing can leave an impression. Kenbi from Seiga is the type that represents the social media types very well. Very fake personality and only cares what dancing provides them rather than loving it as an art, which has been a main theme of the series. Still, Wanda & Kabo have drifted so far apart that the introduction of social media with dancing could serve as the bridge to bring them back closer together, and we know Wanda wants that.

It's funny Yayoi accomplished so much that the replaced logic must be that she is replaced. Of course we know it is something different. But, man, she pissed off Yayoi with everything she did.

My god, I feel so bad for Ai. I hope she can make it out of it ok. I can't imagine her dealing with everything. I can only hope that is Yayoi on the phone.

Wandance - Volume 11

With Wanda & Kabo back together dancing finally, it will be interesting how they work their distinct styles. One thing that is clear for Iori is that he does hold the opinion of others to be too much. It probably lies in why On rejected him. He has great dance skills, but his confidence has a lot to be desired. Kenbi might be an a$$hole, but his point of limiting yourself in what you want people to see is true.

Cero transforming into a mermaid temporarily is interesting. I do wonder for people if there is a specific monster they would transform into or things like a specific monster's flesh that attributes to it.

So Alfur wants to be one with Oki by eating her flesh and her soul is the key. Though how would that even work? At least Rabi got there in time.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword - Chapter 56:

So basically the real plan was kept a secret to flush out Goliath. Though it is cool seeing how powerless Goliath is, I can't help but think that Charles's last desperation will be successful.

Wandance - Volume 13

  • Well, the series so far I would rate 8/10.
  • Performances are great.
  • The series is like the dance equivalent of a battle manga. Love the different usages of hip-hop, house, and pop. (A ton more) Also showing off performances vs. breakdancing 1 on 1's.
  • The performances push the story forward.
  • Personally, for me, I wish there was more on the character side, but there is still a good amount.

Shiki is an interesting character. She is in love with Shinoha and is willing to take that to her grave. Most likely her face is an attribute of her powers, but why did she have to bury her love? In fact, the ironic thing is that love for Shinoha led to more irrational decisions. She wants to protect that smile, the smile that Kiwami gave him. It makes sense with everything Shinoha has been through; you don't want to make him go through more. At the very least her love for Shinoha is on display, and she didn't bury it.

It's rather interesting to see the effect that Hiroki has had on members of his former gang. He gave them a place to belong in high school, while here they allowed them to escape their shytty adult lives. For him, he was a hero, but of course that could be very far from what he is actually doing for them.

Zanzou the leader of the ninja, is very interesting. He clearly has a lot of empathy since he was a big fan of Hiroi. But, man, he knew how to mentally fukk him up, making him remember the painful past of a fan who died after he lied about a promise that would save him. Of course baseball can't save anyone.
