Truly the term the Immortal Sugimoto is not one to be taken lightly. How he was able to escape but take one of the twins guts is fukking insane. Tsurumi comments are interesting as he mentions how Sugimoto's group is more capable than them of getting the tattoos. Of course, it is always smarter to be in the background.

Hijikata & Nagakura are both old-timers, but they have more motivations to bring back the Shinsengumi clan. Though essentially he opposes Tsurumi because he wants to take over Hokkaido. Though the real question for both Hijikata & Tsurumi what exactly they will do. Of course there is Sugimoto's group.

Meanwhile, we got the clash between Sugimoto, Asirpa, Tanigaki, and Tetsuzo. Tanigaki & his roots is out for a rematch against Retar, and of course, teaming up with the hunter Tetsuzo gives them an interest to align. Of course Retar will be around to support Sugimoto & Asirpa. Though learning that Tetsuzo is one of the skins gives Sugimoto & Asirpa to go after him. Though for Tanigaki, he can go back to the 7th division, but in reality, he stays with the options he wants. His heart is not with the 7th division, which is the biggest telling thing. Though Tetsuzo's danger level is massive, how will Sugimoto survive even being immortal?

Regarding the new issue of JJK
I am pretty sure Muro and Cross are the reincarnation of Sukuna and what we’re seeing is the equivalent of Yuji’s last conversation with him, but this time they aren’t starting as enemies and Sukuna isn’t an outright monster.

Which lowkey, might be one of the most epic manga sequels cause who is everyone else. I sort of think the main character is Yuji or maybe Geto reborn since we saw what I think was Mahito reborn talking to him like he was someone he was seeking. The only two people I could see him connected to are those too.

Plus the sister getting that diagnosis…. shyt is going to pop off.

So I ended up reading the Kaiju n.8 manga and I can see why it stalled in sales and never really lift off like some other shonens from the past 5 years.

The story never goes up a notch and the fights really become a "I will punch harder" fest. Some characters are hilariously left behind after being set up to become legit players and you end up with a as mid a series as you gonna get. I guess the best thing you can say about it is that it doesn't completely fall off and it just kinda stays at mid level throughout :heh:

I laughed when I looked into the reception the last 2 arcs got and found out the "punch harder" stuff became a meme:dead:

It should be an easy watch once they adapt the final two arcs in the anime though :manny:

Kaiju no 8 had about as good of a start as you can ask for out of SJ...

But its a perfect example of playing it far too safe for too long - then throwing shyt square at the wall for effect when you've laid zero groundwork to set things up when you see sales dipping.

Actually saw a pretty good video on it a while back on youtube.

The issue hits a lot of newer manga but Kaiju no 8 really, really just became the biggest culprit :francis: As much as I shyt on Tokyo Ghoul, at least that series took chances throughout.

I haven't read Gachiakuta but this season's so dry I've continued watching the anime, they have a chance to do interesting shyt rn but, similar to Kaiju, it just feels like the creator is gonna stay between the lines and just stick to the typical tropes :francis: that show basically has this season to itself and it still isn't moving the needle in terms of hype :russell: nikka had to get back into one piece to pass the time

I knew Kaiju was gonna have it rough early :mjlol: they started giving everyone power ups so quickly I'm like watch the vast majority of these nikkas become useless just as fast, we didn't even see them really go through anything before the power boost.

Kafka had the potential to talk grown-man shyt like Reigen in mob psycho, add a unique sense of humor

instead he just acts like teenage Naruto :skip:

shyt like this just makes me appreciate Gege even more for having the balls to introduce the strongest nikkas in Kaisen at the very beginning and forcing everyone else to tip toe around them, leaning into that shyt gave that story way more tension :ohlawd: I like when author create a challenge for themselves (within reason :whoa: )

Edit: Just started this video and breh immediately mentioned Kaisen :dead: I'm still in disbelief Gege fumbled one of the best starts in Shounen ever.

Finished reading Lord of the Mysteries

Was a strong 8.5-9.0 until I hit the ending, dropped to a solid 8, maybe a 7 if you aren't into strategic thought in stories.

It dropped Mostly because they did a shyt ton of world building and ended in a "to be continued..." type beat :beli: and left a ton of side characters stories open ended as hell, damn near everyone in the Tarot Club had an interesting personal motivation to reach deity level but we never got to see how it played out for em.

I also realized just how much of that story is jist inner monologue with Klein, albeit entertaining as hell in written form :whew: , you can't make an anime showing these nikkas thinking 200 different plots and schemes in a split second, it's kind of like Death Note in that sense but they have way more obstacles to think about, it can get exhausting.

The story does kind of continue on in the sequel "The Circle of Inevitability" but the MC isn't there anymore and he was the real glue for all of these other characters for me.

I DID see alot of people saying this second story flipped it, since you already know all the world lore it focuses more on characters in a much more satisfying way, but I really hate when authors switch MC's out and we have to watch the new one "relearn" a bunch of information we already got :camby: I just wanna see my nikka Klein lampooning over the socioeconomic climate of the world :mjcry:good times.

imma jump to something else and spin the block later to finish part 2.
