People complaining are fukking stupid.

At 4K per month thats almost 50K a year.

If you're making 160K that means more than 1/3 of your income is going to rent. Once you add on all of the other costs of living in NYC 160K isn't shyt.

I wouldn't take those chances either, especially with how long evictions etc can take.

thats not the case. There's new buildings in Manhattan with no one in them shyts.
Manhattan is considered prime real estate so I know don’t have to tell you what happens to prices when everyone starts vying for it

Also the number of people in NYC alone dwarfs other parts of NY

Cornfields, cows, & an one stoplight town
I don't understand the $160K rule when the article says six figures. That's a big range there. So someone making $100K with hardly any debt still wouldn't qualify but someone making $160K regardless of their debt ratio would be in? Sounds like a stupid approach to finding suitable renters.

40x rule should be illegal

America doesn't care about its citizens
That article manipulated the numbers. Manhattan is no different from the rest of the nation when qualifying for an apartment you need to gross atleast 3x the monly rent. It's always been this way

Kinda hard to judge this without knowing the value of the underlying property. There’s alot of places where you would need this kind of income to qualify.

Anything around $700k and up would have these type if requirements and thats not alot in some cities.
