Mankind's run in 1996 was dope and an excellent example of how to book a psycho heel

Having been introduced to wrestling during the Attitude era, I only knew Mankind as the goofy, lovable comedy guy who did crazy stunts. When I went back and watched the '96 stuff for the first time when he was a psycho and bodying Undertaker it had me like :damn:

96 Mankind is the only Mankind I acknowledge, muthafukka was rocking in the corner pulling out his hair:mjlol:

I was like wtf is wrong with this dude:what:

I was sold he was really trying to kill people in the ring

Then Vince like he always do fukk up a good thing and turned him into a chump

Terrifying yet you wanted to be sympathetic too... he was SO well acted.

Pre-socko Mankind truly was one of WWE's best ever things.

The journey from here to cuddly Mick Foley shoe-horning hackneyed jokes into skits is one of their worst ever things. They've ruined it to the point where he can't even switch it on anymore - when he tried to scare Sasha and Charlotte before their HIAC he only scared his own blood pressure monitor.:to:

As if it was calming him down...so awesome.
Yeah he said he got inspired by Silence of the Lambs for that. When Hannibal beat up those guards and the music was super tense, then when it was all over he started playing some classical music
