As much as I wanna shyt on Cash Money (and they took flashiness to a new ******ish high), it ain't all on them. Most of their discog is complete basura though. Can't say the same for Bad Boy and The Roc

:heh: ALL of Bad Boy's non-Biggie discog is garbage.

I'll listen to Wayne, Juve, Hot Boys, & BG over garbage ass Mase & Harlem World & fukkin' Loon

People pretending that No Limit doesn't exist. They pretty much birthed Cash Money.

Dude, Master P. ws claiming Richmond California before it became cool to claim New Orleans AFTER Cash Money

Ive literally seen dudes talk about how they're like a certain rapper (they were talking about 50 & Game), and then proceed to jump a homeless man on the train

:heh:50 & Game were rapping about jumping homeless dudes on trains?

I don't recall that.

Far as rap they had Black Rob's debut...G-Dep's debut...Mase's debut and uhh

No Way Out and

um

:francis:
Yeah BR and G-Dep debuts were excellent, Mase debut was okay, Lox debut was nice, Shyne debut was good. nothing groundbreaking or near classic, I'd put like 10 No Limit or Cash Money albums over all of these (and all Puffy albums. Biggie being the exception of course)

Puffy had like 50 rappers on the roster and only released 15 (at most) rap albums in 20+ years of Bad Boy existence

I think it's hilarious people were saying this back in the day....got called haters....and now Manny Fresh is actually saying it's accurate.

And for the record saying CMR music had content is like saying 2 Live Crew had content....it's not wrong, but you know damn well what they're actually known for. If I get bored later I'll dig out an old Hot Boys interview....I think from Blaze magazine...all they did the whole time was argue over who had the best watch. The only person that wanted to talk about music was Turk.

And for the record Manny Fresh saying this =/= CMR is the only reason. But at least he's acknowledging their part in it.

Fred.

couldn't help but notice that big ass -490 next to your shyt...am I being trolled right now?

i'll take the bait b/c i'm bored

1) yes, first time I heard dead prez was on the radio (HIP HOP), plus the video got lots of spins on BET and college TV

2) :patrice:making a career off of your music is a bad thing now!? having a major corporation push your art to the masses is negative? i missed that memo

Well, you got go where the vibe within the industry is to sell. During his era, you couldn't be on some Rakim typa shyt and expect to sell. Having said that, I can't stand mfers who done profited from the machine, who drank from the machine titties and then come cry about the fukkery they done partake. nikka shut the fukk up!

I suspect most of this crying is about them making music that is disposable and won't stand the test of time. It is what it is my nikka. Just fall back and let the new generation get his.

damn shame that the only song that stood the test of time was "back that ass up"

just like "down for my N's" is the only no-limit song that did too :francis:

Nah, they got better song with more content than Back That Ass Up.
Still stands but it's just a party song.

B-G - Plan Went Sour, Cash Money Roll or Hard Times are so much higher. Time has no effect on these songs, their content & feeling.
UNLV & Juvenile have good unique songs too...Playa N Hate or Take Them Five....

I love Big Tymers - Ballin Feat Bun B but the vocoder, damn no.

Beyond being austentacious, the problem of 97 - 2000 CMR is Lil Wayne. It seems that all was done for him to become a star. He was featured all over the albums. Happily DJ Screw gave us a best version of Neighborhood Superstars.
