Without mafioso/Shiny Suit Hip Hop, we wouldn't have Bling Bling era. To be honest, from a historical standpoint, CMR just had the right push at the right moment with Bling Bling as Hip Hop completely crossed over and being swagger jacked by whites, ie MTV Cribs etc....

Cash Money made white t shirts a fashion statement :wow:. Dudes rocking 20XL ass tee's, baggy jeans, and air forces up in Philly.

But yeah, while they did made the "bling bling" era kick off, their run fizzled quickly once BG left :mjcry:.
crazy as fukk

Nah, they got better song with more content than Back That Ass Up.
Still stands but it's just a party song.

B-G - Plan Went Sour, Cash Money Roll or Hard Times are so much higher. Time has no effect on these songs, their content & feeling.
UNLV & Juvenile have good unique songs too...Playa N Hate or Take Them Five....

I love Big Tymers - Ballin Feat Bun B but the vocoder, damn no.

Beyond being austentacious, the problem of 97 - 2000 CMR is Lil Wayne. It seems that all was done for him to become a star. He was featured all over the albums. Happily DJ Screw gave us a best version of Neighborhood Superstars.
wayne had the kids breh...he didnt cuss most he said was nikka

In the South, I can say I didn't know about half of the brands I would know of if it wasn't for Cash Money. Especially Big Tymers.

I think a lot of people who say that music doesnt effect people are still really young, and arent able to look back at their life and the things they did.

I remember copping a $500 Iceberg Bart Simpson sweater w/ my buddy...and then going to the mall to buy a long ass chain.

Ive literally seen dudes talk about how they're like a certain rapper (they were talking about 50 & Game), and then proceed to jump a homeless man on the train.
90% of the stupid shyt I wore when I was 19 was due to listen to my favorite Atlanta rappers. Stupid white tees looking like I am Jeezy

I remember when I was like 12, I wanted a No Limit Records chain, told my dad it's cause I am a No Limit soldier. As you know, I never got that chain but I did get a whooping.

I've said the exact same thing about how back in the day we had sections of hiphop like sub genres. booty shake was in that sub genre. so was just party music or flashy music. no one ever talked about "i think mannie is a better rapper than...." that was not the point of his music. but today. yall will actually have that debate when it comes to these nonsense flashy only rappers. or mumble rappers. this confuses the new generation growing up because the lines are blurred. they dont have any idea what the "best rapper" title means.

i've told yall on here many times. these artists need to be in sub genres so people will stop saying stuff like "drake is the best rapper" you can't be the best rapper when we know you have an entire team writing your songs. and we all know most of the times his music is high quality. can't lie about that. whether you like him or not. its high quality music. BUT, he can never be in that discussion. he should've never been on that sprite billboard next to real life BEST RAPPERS. and he's just one example. Turn up rap. is supposed to be in a Turn up sub category. Not in regular rap were people really believe this is the best that Hiphop has to offer.

Nah drakes music isn't high quality
