Its more of a showcasing/flossing event for the participants than anything. Combine that with the fukkery and trashtalking that goes along you have people tuning in. Also in some cases, as Swizz pointed out, the battles can be educational because a lot people will come to discover that such and such producer/writer wrote/produced such and such song.
