Fam, they have 7 straight seasons of making the playoffs, it's time to start over because if they let this go longer the end result will be far worse. They aren't making the playoffs anymore, they can't sell that dream to fans, and holding onto Conley/Gasol like this is going to hurt them when it comes time to draft. They are up against the clock now with the Celtics owning their pick in 2019, which is protected but will eventually becomes unprotected in 2021 which is the year Conley's contract is up and a year after Gasol's contract is done. The ownership from the Vancouver squad is gone, so that doesn't really hold water. The Grizz are at a crossroad and the smart move is to move on from this shytty squad they've built, you're talking about them as though their two star players aren't 30 and soon to be 34. This isn't the NCAA, this is the NBA and when you come to the point the Grizz are at right now you have to do the smart thing, we've seen this happen over and over again when teams don't know when it's time to let go and it almost always turns out bad in the end.

7 straight years in the playoffs IS their championship and they got there largely by fukking up. They’re an anomaly. If they rebuild along wit the other 24 teams you think should be doing the same, they’re afraid they’ll never get out of it.

Even if they blew it up, the payoff is returning back to the playoffs and having another 7 years of this. I think they’re ok with that. Even when they were good and making the playoffs with a Euroleague roster nobody was saying “hey imagine Giannis or whoever with them?” Why? Because realistically nobody really wants to see that happen. If they trend down and rebuild, even if they drafted THREE healthy Embiid’s, all we’d do is wonder when their free agency year is so they could join the Knicks (we already see it with the Bucks). That organization knows that, so they see no downside in being in that area nobody wants their teams to be in. It works for them.

Sure they’ll blow it up if possible and maybe they get another Gasol, but the only hope they’ll sell is a playoff berth.

And now, their championship run is over and will get worse year by year as their stars age. They were an anomaly, now they have the same record as the Nets who literally have a brighter future outlook despite not having any draft picks for the last 18 seasons.

The problem is that they're now in the same area regardless of what they want, they're no longer a treadmill team that can rely on the playoffs and are firmly among the shyttiest of positions which is the 11-14 range in the draft. There's no upside to this story, they don't have any exceptional young players, Tyreke Evans has been a bright spot but he's on a 1 year deal, they still have Lord Finesse Parsons out there with his horrific deal. You can't be afraid to lose star players that you don't even have yet, draft well, put a solid team around them and maybe they stay like Russ has decided to do with the Thunder.

They need to rebuild, especially with the timing of their draft pick with the Celtics being unprotected in 2021.

How much of their mess can be attributed to Hollinger?
Like 10%. He's mostly about trying to find diamonds in the rough late in the draft. Certainly the Jordan Adams pick over Rodney Hood was Hollinger-influenced and analytically-driven, even though Adams had game, he also had ticking time bombs for knees.

I actually wouldn't mind if he took over as GM. He can't be any worse.
