They were quick as hell to pull the trigger on firing him, wrong move
Not every team is meant to win it all. The Grizzlies aren’t selling fans on winning a title. Deep down they know they’ll never be good enough for it. They CAN sell you on making the playoffs, getting a free towel and singing All I Do Is Win a couple of times in the playoffs. They do that because they’re not interested in reverting back to the Vancouver Grizzlies.
The treadmill looks great compared to running up a big ass hill. I kinda don’t blame em. They know their limitations and for NBA fans who think they’re bad for business, they play their position well enough to not be afraid of seeing them in super important games. As a Grizzlies fan you just have to know those terms and conditions. They’re that NCAA squad that will never sniff a final four but you can see them in your tourney pool almost every year. They’re the New Mexico Lobos of the NBA.
He was ineffective. He's a center shooting 42% this year. He should be getting benched more than he is.The rift with Gasol obviously got Fiz fired but why didnt he play him at all in the fourth?
Retarded move, coaching wasn't the problem, it's the roster and the complete lack of awareness of it being time to move on from Conley & Gasol.
Fizz did as good of a job with that team as you can expect, they lack talent and their two primary players are aging. They should be the poster child for holding on too long and not knowing when to rebuild.
Fam, they have 7 straight seasons of making the playoffs, it's time to start over because if they let this go longer the end result will be far worse. They aren't making the playoffs anymore, they can't sell that dream to fans, and holding onto Conley/Gasol like this is going to hurt them when it comes time to draft. They are up against the clock now with the Celtics owning their pick in 2019, which is protected but will eventually becomes unprotected in 2021 which is the year Conley's contract is up and a year after Gasol's contract is done. The ownership from the Vancouver squad is gone, so that doesn't really hold water. The Grizz are at a crossroad and the smart move is to move on from this shytty squad they've built, you're talking about them as though their two star players aren't 30 and soon to be 34. This isn't the NCAA, this is the NBA and when you come to the point the Grizz are at right now you have to do the smart thing, we've seen this happen over and over again when teams don't know when it's time to let go and it almost always turns out bad in the end.
The problem is...I haven't seen anything from the Grizzlies front office that tells me they can even select the right players, if you just take a look at their recent drafts...
They have a franchise pg and a franchise center, all they needed to do was surround them with shooting and they couldn't even do that simple shyt right...
You think being a treadmill one and done playoff team is bad...what about being a treadmill bottom 5 team with a high draft pick that you blow over and over...
I also don't think they are EVER going to get out from under that Parsons and Conley contract so it is only so much rebuilding they can do...

Not even gonna ask you how

That's exactly why you want them in a position to draft top 3, this front office has proven they can't make the right pick at the spots the Grizz are picking at so why would they be able to pick from 11-14? Go top 3 and you remove a lot of the guess work for them to fukk shyt up.

You giving up on that 2018 Lakers pick already?![]()
