Noel will never make that money back ,He really got shytted on. He probably wants to put hands on Rich Paul for the broken promises . Also kcp turned down 5 years 80 mil from the pistons and so far has made 46mil the last 4 years from L.A. Thats a big haircut to take if Kcp isnt plugged into some of these power moves that klucth sports/lebron are into a fade is the very least im giving Rich Paul.

Breh it's even worse than that. Pistons had 4 / $80 million on the table for him.

Are the Detroit Pistons right? Or will Kentavious Caldwell-Pope win his bet?

Factor in the difference in state tax rates for half the total salary (since half of all games played are home games), and shyt gets even crazier.

Michigan has a flat state income tax rate of 4.25%. On top of that, anyone working in the City of Detroit must pay at least 1.2% if they're a nonresident, and 2.4% if they live within the Detroit city limits. Assuming KCP lived outside the city limits, he'd owe 5.45% in city / state taxes ($2.18 million over the 4 years / $80 million contract - remember, those local / state taxes are only paid on home games) if he'd stayed with the Pistons.

Going to LA over those same 4 years, KCP earned:

2017-2018: $17,745,894
2018-2019: $12,000,000
2019-2020: $8,089,282 (Year 1 of the new deal he just signed)
2020-2021: $8,493,746 (Year 2 of the new deal he just signed).

His gross earnings in LA will be $46,328,922. So he's already taken a 42% haircut to play in LA - and that's just on gross terms.

Net of CA state income taxes though, it's materially worse. The top marginal tax rate in CA is 12.3% for any income over ~$570,000. And any income above $1 million pays an additional 1%, for a top rate of 13.3% for income beyond $1 million.

Ignoring taxes owed below that $1 million threshold each year (just to make the math easier), and calculating the total tax based on only half his annual salary (to reflect that only half of all games are played in the state of CA) KCP had (or has upcoming) the following CA state income tax bills:

2017-2018: (($17,745,894 - $1,000,000) / 2)*0.133 = $1,113,602
2018-2019: (($12,000,000 - $1,000,000) / 2)*0.133 = $731,500
2019-2020: (($8,089,282 - $1,000,000) / 2)*0.133 = $471,437
2020-2021: (($8,493,746 - $1,000,000) / 2)*0.133 = $498,334

Total state of CA taxes owed: $2,814,873

KCP's gross pay will be 42% lower in CA than in Detroit...and he still ends up paying at least $634,873 more in taxes...and that's ignoring taxes on the 1st $1 million every year in CA :picard:

This is a good move for both players. Rich just has his hands tied right now. The best thing to do is hire someone who has no clients or very little. Two players who impressed me are 1)Tobias Harris- hired his dad as his agent. Got over 100 million. His dad got Tobias some great contracts. 2) Malcolm Brogdon- he has the only female agent in the nba. Her name is Danielle Cantor. She is part of David Falk's team but Brogdon signed directly with her. If Brogdon had Paul as his agent, he would not have gotten 85 million. Pick an agent that can put all their focus on you.
Isn't there another NBA female agent? I think she's black and works with Lil Wayne
