that didn't explain why the music is actually stale and hasn't been innovative for decades hence why the genre is dead in the water.

rock and roll music was pushed long past it's expiration date.

If you're talking radio rock, I won't disagree but I think that plays into my original point about labels not pushing rock artists. As far as innovation, it depends on the subgenre. There's bands/artists (like Tosin Abasi) out here that just don't get mainstream attention yet manage to do well from a touring standpoint.

My first thought. Rock music had about 2838383838 different sub genres popping at different points in history. Nowadays it’s crickets when it comes to mainstream rock popping
As someone who still follows rock ... rock is dead and the best charting stuff sounds like music from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s to me ...
