You mean the part of the season where the deficiencies of his one trick pony teams unravelled while stacked teams like my 49ers held up better?
the part of the season where his quarterbacking performance would plummet according to his own standards
of course joe was better
being the best quarterback isnt throwing cannonballs with the best spirals with the best spin or any other bullshyt.
its performing and making right decisions under pressure. Im sorry but marino had way too many pedestrian ass games in the playoffs to be the GOAT
those buffalo defenses werent bad but they were far from best. at least joe would lose to the giants, a defensive powerhouse with future hall of fame coaches. joes only two downright bad game in the offs was against the vikings (imo one of his worst games ever) and the infamous giants game where he got ktfo-d cold
again, sorry but you cant be the goat offensive player at your position if you were way below standards in the playoffs and did badly against the good defenses. theres some exceptions to RBs when your team is down 3 scores or more.
marino couldnt take over in his biggest game and routinely lost to ultimate losers in buffalo. sure, defenses win out against good offenses, but if you're a GOAT you have to have something to show that you actually held your own.
marino had a total of 2 games past the wc round in which he played like a GOAT
sorry its a total non-contest. marino was perhaps the most physically talented and precise qb on long passes. that doesnt make him the best qb ever
