You think Hezonja was a top 5 lotto pick because they thought he'd be a slow catch and shoot guy that cant defend anyone?
The NBA is different. Doncic not even looking athletic against Eurobasket comp is a massive red flag.

Hezonja had no real basketball skills besides being athletic with a pretty jumpshot. Everybody talked about his inability to dribble in the halfcourt and inability to defend the perimeter.
Doncic athleticism is fine.

Jay Bilas sat there when he was drafted and said he was one of the most talented players in the draft, could shoot, put it on the floor, defend.
He was real arrogant while he was in Eurobasket too, like Doncic.

If he can't get by defenders consistently in the Euroleague how is he going to do it in the NBA?
His lack of athleticism will also make him a weak link on defense. A backcourt of Doncic and Booker would be a defensive disaster.

Athleticism is not that important if you have any natural elite skills and especially if you have elite size. Everybody has strengths and weaknesses. Jokic isn't athletic. Marquese Chriss is crazy athletic. Who would you rather have?

Jokic plays the one position where you can be big and slow and still be a great player.
Doncic is being billed as a pg but he doesn't have NBA pg quickness or athleticism. The only truly elite skill he has is his passing. His handle is not NBA pg level, much less elite. So how is he supposed to run an offense when he's gonna be matched up against super quick elite athletes with better handles? There arent any of those in his Euro league and athleticism isn't something you can really "work on" like that. Skills like shooting and dribbling you can improve with hard work, but then you factor in the arrogance and immature attitude and it's just too many red flags.
