Mariota is overrated!

I'd take Mariota after Winston. Mariota can be a good QB but I think he'll take more years to get there than Winston will. Winston is more of a "sure thing". After Mariota I like Connor Cook and that's it.

Ain't nothing wrong with having a preference. I would personally take Mariota because Jameis has that Drew Brees complex aka 3 great throws followed by 1 WTF are you thinking throw. They both have their strengths, but cats in here acting like Mariota is Eric Crouch or Scott Frost.

no one in college runs a west coast offense. not even close. i think the last coach to even attempt to run it was Bill Callahan at Nebraska, and it was a complete disaster.

It's Chip Kelly's offense. After the Eagles Monday Night game againt the Colts or Panthers, I forgot which one, Trent Dilfer even broke it down. Said some shyt like "It's basically the West Coast offense but they like to spread you out significantly." The base of that O is West Coast concepts.

Please tell me which system busts like Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, Tim Couch, Christian Ponder, Jim Druckenmiller, etc. could have been placed in to make them pro bowl caliber QB's.

Christian Ponder wasn't a system QB. FSU ran pro-style for the longest. He's just not a good QB. He wasn't great at FSU. Vikes just failed on the first round pick.

Read option QBs fail because of the emphasis placed on first read and never going through progressions. The first read is there for QBs in college like 80% of the time. In the pros, like 20%. So, 4/5 times, the first read isn't there and there is the natural inclination to run. They don't go through progressions. Russell Wilson runs, but he's play pro style offenses in college. These other QBs have not and it shows once they show up in the pros.

Wow. Someone actually said this other than me. I been saying this. Wilson played in a pro style offense which is why he isn't struggling nearly as much as the other read option QBs. But even he has some big flaws but luckily he plays in an offense built to his strengths and he is an exceptional scrambler...not to mention he has been developed as a pocket passer from before the NFL. These other QBs are trying to learn from the pocket NOW. It's hard as hell.

League isn't trying to build around these kinds of QBs so they will forever struggle as the league will continue to try to cram a square peg into a round hole. If I was in High School I'd look for a College that played a pro style offense. If I was a RG3, Kaep, etc, I'd get a QB coach to train with in the summer.

Yeah man, it's like this.

High school is where you crawl, College is where you walk and the NFL is where you run. In basic terms, how can you run when you can't even crawl? That the read option QB in a nutshell. They were saying that RG3 didn't even know how to do 3,5,7 step drops. Why? Play out of the shotgun in college. Easier to see the field, don't have to stumble over footwork, find the biggest WR and keep moving the chains. Elementary shyt. Now, what happens when Revis, Haden or Sherman is covering him. Dude is basically out of the game then. Now you have to go through progressions, while dropping back. Look at any boxer and how after certain punches are thrown, they react a certain way, with a certain follow up punch or covering up a certain way. That didn't just happen yesterday, that is a lifetime of knowledge into that move. The NFL is Ivy league and these nikkas getting C's in high school. It isn't going to work.

Thats pretty much Chip's Eagles offense and pretty much what Oregon runs breh with some read option too. It's more complex and deals a lot in mathematic match ups. I found a couple articles on it, you should look it up I thought it was a pretty interesting read.
