His lack of endorsement deals has nothing to do with low popularity, in that same article you pulled from its mentioned that he's highly sought after but just hasn't been interested. At least in America anyway as he does have an endorsement with a bank in his home country. Dirk's one of if not the most celebrated international athlete this league has ever seen so popularity is the last thing you should be using against him
If endorsement deals is what makes a superstar to you, not how good they actually are on the basketball court, you probably need to check how you define that term.
