I've wrestled with this question... I don't think it was a mistake.

The whole purpose of integration wasn’t based off the idea that black ppl and white ppl should just co-exist and merge together with no stated goal in mind.

It had everything to do with addressing the “inconvenience” blacks had to deal with in every social aspect with housing, schools, public facilities, and employment.

Integration just meant an expansion of rights, choices and options for American citizens. Rights and options that should have been their birthright.

Both of them grew up where they could go to any public bathroom, sit anywhere they wanted on public transpo that they paid for, buy in any neighborhood they wanted etc so I'm gonna hit em with a look at the whole picture.
If your money was integrated you should be too.

Integration gave black folks a choice, and its up to individuals to choose to have other black folks back or not. Everybody else had a choice but black folk.
But in the end money usually gonna beat out race cause folks gotta eat and a lot sold cause they saw greener pastures.

If we were still segregated in 2022 these nikkas would be preaching differently.

Integration is one thing and separate but equal is another. We were forced to integrate in the lowest rung of white society. We weren’t given the choice to elevate on our own, and efforts to do so often sabotaged, hell they still are.

There is no telling how great a black Wall Street would have been had it not been for sabotage. How much wealth and education could black vets have accumulated if they weren’t denied VA loans or GI Bill funds?

Racism sabotaged the idea that being black meant a good life and therefore associating any type of success or non struggle as “living white”.
