Marvel fukked up because in the trailer Dr. Strange is clearly some place with a lot of Asians then the next scene is Tilda Swinton....who is supposed to be Celtic. Unless the trailer is cut weird they dropped the ball.

It's a nondescript robe. And I'm at nitpicking the differences between the two pictures, when the picture @Jello Biafra posted is from a fantasy costume site:

Last week I read that the character was first created in the comics with a lot of racist tones and they didn't to put that in a movie. Guess it's too hard to just create a well done asian character?

It looks nothing like any "real" clothing style. It doesn't look like a gi, either.

The problem ain't her outfit. It's the fact that every scene leading up to her introduction is chock full of Asians....they're in what looks like a tradional Asian temple....and she's supposed to be Celtic.

I dunno what he's doing in this pic but this is a Dara Molloy, a modern Celtic monk. Does his outfit look closer to what you posted, or what she's wearing in Dr. Strange?

he let the cat out of the bag with them saying they basically didnt want to alienate china, but any other major movie company would have done the same thing though, thats where they make all their foreign money

but at the same time if tilda is supposed to be the next in a line of ancient ones like Feige said a while back, i dont understand what the problem is. like i said before if a white guy is teaching a karate class he is going to wear the appropriate robes, not some wranglers. i'll wait for the movie to actually explain the background of their cinematic version of the ancient one before i get up in arms
