Ima check Doomsday and then I’m done with MCU. They took a lot of effort in getting the 60’s look down & the family aspect but the humor and dialogue just ruins it. Didn’t bother me when I was younger but I’ve outgrown the low effort in how they tell stories. It just felt like a 2 hr Disney+ show, nothing felt unique or interesting about this. The long expositions are killing Marvel movies, my god it’s like watching paint dry. There’s no subtlety or treating the viewer like they’re intelligent. Everything is force fed and so heavy handed.

This really wasn’t any different than Endgame. In a race against time, the heroes gather as much intel to stop a super villian from destroying their home, hijinks and sarcastic banter develop.

Oh and the power of friendship (getting the crowd to stop being mean, getting Shalla to reconsider) once again saves the day.

Kirby carried the movie on her back.
There were a few sections that were moving snappy on some D+ ish so I kinda get where you’re coming from. I ultimately didn’t mind it because I was so wrapped up into the aesthetic. Reminded me of the fighting montage from Captain America: The First Avenger, but double the tempo.

I was feeling so-so on Shakman up until that space expedition. Really want more of that. Not as hung up on the Red Ghost shyt as much as I am with the Lyonne sub-plot for Ben that went nowhere. Overall solid job for a second directorial feature though. Looking at it in a similar way to Spider-Man: Homecoming.

:wow:They actually did it, a good F4 movie that’s not The Incredibles. 8/10 4th time the charm I guess lol. Not better than Supes but still a good watch. Still disappointed at the DOOM casting tho. But marvel is winning my trust back in the movie department.
I’m pretty much the same way. I love that we got a good DC movie and good marvel movies so far this year. Maybe it’s cuz I’m older but my criticism isn’t as hardcore as it used to be. It was fun. Had good family moments and addressed how Reed is an a$$hole but it’s because that’s just how he is.

Good movie with nothing major I can be critical about. Only thing I wanted was more coordinated team action. I think they should've shown the fight with the Mole Man's creature at the beginning. That only would've added another 5-10 minutes to the runtime. Movie was surprisingly short.

The story was tight and I was happy there weren't a bunch of side quests and characters.

That first time seeing Galactus was everything I wanted. The final battle with him could've used more excitement. Maybe they could've had another herald like Terrax to give Ben and Johnny someone to fight. You can't really do much with Galactus in a head up battle.

I definitely enjoyed this more than Superman which I felt did way too much with the story, cast, and humor.

8/10

That said I'm not all that excited about the state of comic book movies.

Still silly given how powerful he is.

You gotta remember they make these films for the lowest common denominator. There's no way they can TRULY represent the Power Cosmic and make it even halfway compelling at this moment.

I thought it was fine. The only thing that gave Superman and edge was Nathan Fillion. Other than that, the art direction, cinematography, effects and casting was much better imo. I also like how they didn't over do the Silver Surfer.

I think they could have done a BIT more explanation of Franklin. Also, I woulda loved it WAY more if the post-credit scene was...

I feel like modern Marvel would do something similar in the comics. When I got back into reading comics in adulthood (for the second time) I just had difficulty getting into Marvel's stuff because they had way too many earth based characters that were reaching omega levels of power and intelligence, and I just found it ridiculous and poorly written

Alright then, seeing it this this weekend off the strenff. :wow:

If it's ass, expect monthly negs on the 1st like government assistance.
It’s straight. Thunderbolts still my favorite CBM of the year and that shyt flopped. :mjcry:

Hauser killed that shyt tho. Really was hoping that rumor of him leading Tarantino’s now-scrapped Movie Critic joint was true.

This is why I loved all the Krakoa X-Men stuff. They not only made people coming back from the dead canon, they didn't just handwave away the ultra-powerful shyt. They also tuned up people that needed to be tuned up like Storm.

Having Sue be into the two brown men of Marvel is hilarious. :russ:
