First Family just might've saved the MCU. We live in a society, brehs.

This was some good ole fashioned storytelling. Toned down the forced quips, scaled sum other shut down a lil, and voila.

The retro-futuristic setting was executed close to flawlessly.

And that was probably the best Johnny we've seen on screen yet. Still the impulsive & funny character we know but letting more of his intellect & luv of family shine thru too. Bro was ready to commit that more than once to save da gang :wow:

Galactus? I mean, the only way left to go was up after the cloud fiasco :mjlol: . I just wish they let him cook a little more while stomping around NY but shyt, WTF u really gonna do messing around wit a God fr? The smirk on my man's face tryna snap Reed in half :picard:

My only gripe is it could've used maybe 15-20 more minutes, and maybe just a *smidge* more action to let em flex a lil more but they prolly saving it for Doomsday fr.

Alright, had some to process.

Lemme start by saying, I'm not a Fantastic Four fan at all. I hate the super campy elitist family shyt. That being said, like I said earlier, this shyt just worked. It leaned into the comicbook campiness but it doesn't bother you at all. It's not Adam West/Joel Schumacher camp.

It's not perfect and I echo the biggest criticism so far, it was too short. Galactus could've used slightly more screen time and was underpowered. But even in being underpowered this mothafukka was menacing as fukk. It was damn near a perfect portrayal. The sound design on him was incredible, he sounds like a richity old robot with a voice that just fit. If you played Shadow of the Colossus, it's fukking THAT. That scene where he stretched Reed and smiled... fukk... Best scene in the film in a film with a bunch of great scenes.

I wasn't sold on female Silver Surfer, but she killed it. My MVP of the film. The look... it wasn't T-1000ish, was like a brushed silver aluminum that looked natural. The voice, the quotes... she had sex appeal and I don't even think she's attractive lol. Power was exactly where it needed to be. And just how omnious she was. It felt like the start of Independence Day. Like you knew something bad was coming, but you don't know what.

The thing about this movie is, everyone will find something that they love and something they dislike, so there's gonna be a lot of goods, just not greats. The odd thing about it is, no one is going to agree on what was wrong lol...

There's some slight miscasting, Pedro worked but he isn't exactly the Reed I know. But I kinda get the portrayal to differentiate from Tony...

But aesthetic, the tone, sound, the visuals... this shyt was mothafukking amazing. There just should've been more of it. Marvel movies gotta generally be between 2:20 - 2:40.

8.5/10... Best Marvel movie I've seen in years.

Just got out of the theater about an hour or so ago. I'd agree with a lot of folks in here at ranking it around maybe 7-8/10. I liked the retro aesthetic a lot, the cast's chemistry was there, Galactus actually felt like an enormous threat rather than a fukking cloud lmao. Cool standalone, but I gotta say as someone who stays out of stan wars...I think I gotta go with Superman being better. But this was the best portrayal of FF for sure, even though that's not saying much. This was just a central story you follow all the way through, whereas I enjoyed Superman's main plot and subplot. But it was good though, enjoyed the serious tone for the level of threat plus the Franklin of it all too.

My number one fear with Doom is because RDJ is playing him he is gonna have his mask off the majority of the time he’s on screen which defeats the entire purpose.

No way they are paying RDJ 60 million dollars or whatever to have his face covered up the entire time :francis:

I am still hoping it’s a fake out and he is superior Iron Man and Doom is somebody else…. Superior Ironman is a great villain but Doom is something else and well we’ll see.

I mean why hide Doom’s face. It could be because he is CGI scarred up OR it could be a bait and switch.

My first thought was that they shot this before they decided what they were doing but RDJ was officially announced last year and probably inked the deal months before that so they could have shot that scene even a couple months ago if they wanted.

I’m praying theres a twist because just seeing tony stark dressed as doom just ain’t gonna do it for me:francis:

Another thing is Robert Downey is getting old. There’s no way they can allow Victor to be a one and done villain going into the future of the MCU

It could be doom pretending to be Tony and then you switch the actor once he got what he wants….

This is my thing with it, like I have no issues with RDJ as I know he'll kill it but I wanna see more stories to tell with Doom. I guess when they "reboot" after Secret Wars another Doom will arise with him played by somebody younger to where we can get more stories out of the character. It'd be a total waste if they don't.

So I just finished watching Fantastic Four: 3.5 Stars out of 5.

I will say that Reed and Sue were great. It took me a bit to get to like Johnny, as I loved Chris Evans take on it along with Michael Chiklis' version of the thing. I felt interested in the Fantastic Four, and wanting to know more stories about THEM and not the Avengers... so it was a good standalone film.

That being said... I am not a fan of Galactus being the Villain of this film; he is a High-Tier Villain.

And now we need to care about Franklin, but it is what it is.

Silver Surfer was fine with what material she had.

I think the plan is to hard reboot every thing after Secret Wars.

Nah. They wouldn't have have had all that fanfare at SDCC and in the cast announcement just to swap RDJ out. He'll be Doom from the womb to the tomb.

Shıt was cool. Y'all overhyping it and bullshıtting saying it's better than Superman. Fụck no! :mjlol:

Sidenote:
There was this sassy ass fụcking yn with a bıtch voice talking loud af next to me. I was so tempted to crack his shıt. A mother and her kids left cause this nıgga and I had to switch seats. Never going to that theater again.

Overall - about a 7.7/10, I won't rewatch - too much dead time.

Calling it the best fantastic 4 movie ain't nothing to run home about.

Calling it the best marvel movie since endgame seems logical since marvel hasn't dropped not 1 good series outside X Men 97'.

I'll pass on Doomsday. Plus the end credit looked mad goofy. The 2nd end credit ain't worth sticking around for.
