Some of yall sayin it surprised you how boring the fantastic four's four characters were...?:ohhh:

So basically no different than how they've been the last 20-years of comics outside of when Reed was on some villain shyt:mjlol:

I brought it up months ago in this thread how they each represented out-dated (or just meh) character themes and it'd be a challenge to sell that to modern audiences that consider the GotG as more of the "first family". Some of yall said i must not read the comics to be sayin that :dead: but nah i was just a long-time reader with common sense. I done told yall about the x-men as well:ufdup: but that's still a bit away and first things first in seeing just how well this hail mary by Disney (the Russos + RDJ + nostalgia bait + kitchen sink, etc) will work.

the movies aren't the comics. what a perfect time to make pretty boring characters not boring. the shytty 2000s movies that everyone dunks are were less boring and way more fun than these 4. put them with this filmmaker in this world, and we're talking about a better movie, and i don't even think they're good

fukk it, i'll go there - Josh Trank's vision for the characters in that absolutely terrible movie was more creative and interesting than what they did here. b/c it's a fukkin movie. the original texts should only be a guidline, not sacred. making them all a little angry and "body horror" is more interesting than just... bland. failed on every level, but the thought process was novel. I don't even know what Reed did in Fan4stic, but i do know there is one scene where he stretch his facial features to look different. that alone was more creative than anything Reed did in the 2025 movie. dude did nothing but stretch his arms and get pulled by Galactus... which still makes no sense to me, b/c i thought that dude has unlimited stretch. wouldn't the worst way to hurt Reed be to stretch him?

There's definitely a twist coming and he can't do Doom for another 5+ years, but even reintroducing RDJ as Doom is not only going to nerf any other actor that plays him unless it's another actor as equal or big as RDJ, but it low-key taints RDJ's legacy in the MCU. Marvel knows better than this from the whole Trevor Slattery fiasco.

I can't believe MCU wasted Mads on Kaecillius.
It’s Tom Cruise 🔥🔥

Doesn't surprise me that Feige and a stooge are afraid to try new shyt. After the 'Infinity Saga' he had clearly run out of ideas, a bunch of shyt flopped and now they just want to go back to the well. So they are bringing Downey back and riding on the coattails of nostalgia.

This is why they don't want to make 'Blade' because it's not "fun" like a phase 3 movie

In hindsight, RDJ's Tony Stark arrived at the perfect time because it was a handful of years before the emasculation era... so not that he hammed it up with the womanizing and sleezeball'ness but they weren't afraid of embracing it. I criticize what they did with Rhodey and with Sam (in the Cap movies), but i also acknowledge that they made sure Tony was the smartest guy in the room and the best/most powerful at what he did (tech). They made sure Steve was the bravest, most respected, and best fighter in most/all 1v1 situations. Rhodey, Sam, Black Widow, Fury (so basically all the black characters, and women :mjlol: ) had to bow down.

Whereas we hit the emasculation era and they got T'Challa (who is supposed to be the best aspects of Tony and Steve) out here stutterin in front of his ex (who is more heroic, has more agency, more street smarts, and would be a better BP)... while his sister gets all the scientific feats and accoloades, talkin down to him and punking him out. T'Challa is lucky he debuted in Civil War first. We don't gotta get into how Fury was depicted a year later in the Cap Marvel movie.

They pulled a T’Challa with the character.

They had to dumb him down to make the women look better.

Ain’t no way this is the “smartest man in the world” :mjlol:
Being book smart isn't the same as socially smart. I actually liked the characterization there. Dude was too logical and earnest to read the room.

i still don't buy that the F4 can't work. for all the shyt the MCU has gotten for making everyone into a Tony Stark quip machine... they shoulda fukkin made these 4 into Tony Stark quip machines. people are twisting themselves into pretzels telling you how much they enjoyed the performances. it's bullshyt. none of them were exciting. at least make one of them a "character."

good characters, good fun, the cool world, and more Galactus and you probably have a F4 that "works."

i'm a broken record, but it seems like they were so afraid of being compared to Incredibles, which is a carbon copy of the Fantastic 4, that they chopped all the fun out as to not be compared. it's like when that movie John Carter came out, fukkin sucked, and then had people defending how it influenced Star Wars, etc. make it more Star Wars then, lean into it. who the fukk wants to see a more boring Luke Skywalker in a less fun world? why even bother greenlighting it?

a 5 minute opening fight vs Mole Man would have been fukkin fun. yeah, dumbasses woulda said, "that's like Incredibles," but you work with what you got. make it a different setpiece and roll
