This thread is filled with people who clearly have never read Marx---I would not expect you to do so, it is heady, complicated, and at times hard to digest. If you want to understand it, read David Harvey's " Reading Marx's Capital with David Harvey".
Marx was thorough but did have a few flaws and things he did not account for (race--a western construct of categorization). Ultimately one of the issues that I have with his work is his somewhat deterministic view of society, economics, and technology. Gramsci was fire and so was Althusser. If you sit and read it and apply it to case studies e.g, Gig Work. it makes hella sense.
On the off note, yes, we are all shaped and are part of capitalism---because, duh. we are born and encultured in it. This does not mean you have to be a capitalist or not be one. Everyone has to make a living, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism.
