Smfh, Maryland should be the East Coast Cali with the progressiveness but we got this walrus cac in Annapolis fukkin shyt up. The fact Jealous ain’t win showed that Black corridor along 95 don’t got the voting power that we think it does or that voting block was/is divided.
A lot of Maryland Democratic Party is machine politics divided between the DC Burbs and Baltimore area. They are still mostly establishment people and ain’t into radical change.

The state party leadership moved slow to support Jealous last year, and the national party only started supporting in late October.

And a lot of the MD Dem leadership were friendly with Hogan. Also a lot of black people weren’t that bothered by Hogan. It’s disgusting. These people really don’t care that much.

I’m sure it was more than a few wealthy Blacks in PG that helped him out. I remember when I went to vote for states it was our folks outside canvassing for Hogan and I live in Black ass Fort Washington.

Maryland resident my whole life. I can tell y'all that a lot of black folk from PG voted for him as well. There are people I personally know who did and they were not ashamed about it. He played it cool with the moderate shyt because he is in a blue state. Interesting to note that the only times a Repub has won the governor seat, since the sixties, was when they ran against a woman and two black guys. I guess Murrland ain't as liberal as people think. No black person has ever won a state wide office as the head of the ticket. No US senators or governors.

Im from MoCo but have lived most of my life in PG. And you’re right. This past election really put it in view. Look at Brian Frost and Ben Cardin’s numbers and then look at Ben’s vote totals.

Ben still got over 1 million votes. But Hogan getting 1.2 million was surprising. No Republican in Maryland running for Governor ever got more than 900,000!

Hogan also was severely outspent in 2014 by Anthony Brown and the Dems.

Yeah, Maryland def isn’t as liberal as they make it seem. It is like California in that respect.

I’ve always thought of Maryland as a tiny East Coast Cali that’s why I said it in one of my last posts. It has almost all the same terrain types except for deserts and there’s an overall more progressive tradition in the state. Yet it’s still deceptively red in certain cases.

But it blows my mind that up until this point we haven’t seen any governor do anything truly substantial for the state. Baltimore should be going through a true industrial renaissance with the increased demand for renewable energy tech, there should be strong efforts to end homelessness and fix the schools, hell even those far off towns in Western Maryland could be zone for light green manufacturing.

It could be because I like playing Sim City from time to time, but I’d love to see another major city built on the Eastern Shore by Ocean City for the sake of job creation and direct investment from companies and as another solution to alleviate homelessness. I think as a state it’s important to stimulate the job market by these means. Give residents a chance to get the skills necessary to get and remain employed.

I agree with everything you said.

There is a chance to do some major and positive things on Eastern Shore and Western MD green energy but most politicians are cowards. Especially MD Dems. Think about the O’Malley administration. The only thing he flexed on was having a budget surplus. It’s so stupid lol.

Theres definitely a feeling of content in Annapolis. The state’s location alone should be enough to make the place wildly successful on all fronts.

I thought they were trying to compete with VA for those early tech firm headquarters by putting them in Western MoCo. That went nowhere.

The people in Annapolis really think they made it good and can’t see behind the trees. It’s a microcosm of America and who we elect. We deserve this tho.

Bruh, I’m fukkin stunned that Dulles became the tech hub in the region. With Fort Meade and the NSA right on 95 how the fukk don’t you throw your weight behind that and have a whole tech industry booming inbetween Baltimore and DC?

My thing is what the fukk could possibly have the state govt thinking that it’s hot shyt? As far as I can recall Baltimore is still a mess, the inner beltway portions of PG are a mess, there’s income inequality, we need more jobs, I mean shyt of all the states I would think Maryland’s relatively small size and manageable population size would make this one of the easier places to make big things happen.

I swear if I weren’t such a roguish individual I’d actually consider running for public office in the state.

I would too, but I have a past :hubie::snoop:

Our politicians are mostly people who have calculated their lives to become politicians. They are only interested in power and collecting their monies.

shyt’s disgusting. Them and their “Hey, at least we not West Virginia” energy have insured that the state ain’t going to go any further than being a overgrown suburb for DC.

I agree with yall about the weird attraction that MD is trying to do with putting more "tech" things FURTHER up the 270 corridor out in and in between Frederick and Hagerstown. Hagerstown is 30years away (culturally and feelings) from PG county...

Its pretty idiotic to me. On the one hand I understand the need to bring jobs to that part of the state but on the other hand you have a mid major city in Baltimore and the most powerful city in the world in DC and you don’t think to put a tech sector in the slice of 95 between the two? With a high speed rail to service this place and connect the two metro areas?

I ain’t nothin but another tax paying citizen of Maryland. How the fukk can I manage to have more common sense than the officials elected to do this job?
