Real talk Nas is likely just the black public face of the company. Day to day shyt is run by the actual CEO and creative directors, none of whom are black or hire black people apparently. It's a bad look but honestly? That's how all of these "culture" platforms are. Complex will trot out their black faces for some video content but overall it's a white dominated "industry."

I meant that the pic was taken before Nas invested. And they've been around since 96.
Word. Thanks for correcting me.

I would always see the ads for Mass Appeal in my issues of Strength, Stress, Life Sucks Die and other late 90s hip-hop/graffiti/skateboarding/fashion magazinese from that time period and I always assumed they debuted in 1999. Or somewhere in the late 90s.

Shame this is what happened to most of these culture mags...but to be honest as someone who collected these mags religiously, this is who they've always been.

What it morphed into just sucks...straight up culture vulture fuel.

Now I know why I was never able to read that article about the untold history of The Lost Tapes, because it was taken down. What's wrong with these people thinking they can pull shyt like that? :gucci:

Now, I'll never find out what inspired "Nothing Lasts Forever" and "Everybody's Crazy." :mjcry:

:snoop:Gullible me. I thought this was Nas and Jungle label. I didn’t much research on it though.
Jungle has his own imprint Street Dreams Records under Mass Appeal I believe.

I heard a little story about Genius.

one of them kept saying Cam'ron was the reason they created it. apparently Cam wanted a percentage of the company at a certain price and got told no, they sold it for a lot of money and Cam missed out on a nice payday and since then he won't do anything with them in any capacity.

one of the Genius wife is/was a big Cam fan too. has a Cam'ron tattoo.
she worked in politics and was friends with Lena Dunham (red flag 1) and was in a relationship with Terry Richardson (red flag 2).

I'm sure DatPiff is another website created by a white guy because he loved Dipset mixtapes.
datpiff was created by a black dude from the Bronx but staff is/was white.
