In the Silver Lining
Someone post that pic of Nas at that party it this put that shyt all in context :lolbron:

:ohhh: all these years I wondered what event this was. Turns out it was Mass Appeal's Christmas Party
Pic says it all :skip:

How much power does Nas wield there? If he comes out and shyts on it while taking his money and leave, then the whole company is done. Or he could flip it. Use his power to get more nikkaz in there.

But this shyt ain't nothing new.

Damn. :dead:

Not my Top 5 GOAT. :mjcry:

I heard a little story about Genius.

one of them kept saying Cam'ron was the reason they created it. apparently Cam wanted a percentage of the company at a certain price and got told no, they sold it for a lot of money and Cam missed out on a nice payday and since then he won't do anything with them in any capacity.

one of the Genius wife is/was a big Cam fan too. has a Cam'ron tattoo.
she worked in politics and was friends with Lena Dunham (red flag 1) and was in a relationship with Terry Richardson (red flag 2).

I'm sure DatPiff is another website created by a white guy because he loved Dipset mixtapes.

this is absolutely disgusting

Genius is the brainchild of college friends Tom Lehman, Ilan Zechory and Mahbod Moghadam. In 2009, Lehman asked Moghadam the meaning of a lyric in the song "Family Ties" by rapper Cam'ron: "80 holes in your shirt, there: your own Jamaican clothes."

A week later, Lehman started coding a website for annotating song lyrics.

How a rap lyric inspired a multimillion-dollar online platform

:francis::hhh::picard::gucci::dwillhuh::unimpressed::mjtf::martin::what::mjpls::scusthov::dahell::shaq2::aicmon::camby:

and why would anyone buy that site

Damn that place is trash. I really wish we had a media company that We fully controlled so young creative and business minded black kids can get the opportunities they deserve without this type of bs.

This.

Sad part about this is that Hip Hop media has gradually moved black people out of these roles and brought in a lot of white folks. Some of which I've met, who know absolutely nothing about the culture or really much of its history. The companies that would like to believe that they are in the forefront of saying what's "hot" and what isn't are all outlets that are now predominately white. A lot of this happened after 2004. Back in the 90's, you saw mostly blacks and hispanics in these roles, but then a lot of the outlets got bought up by larger companies, and they slowly but surely started pushing us out and bringing in people who were new to the music and culture. And today, these are the same people who feel as if they're the authority on what should be listened to and what's "cool". This needs to change. Soon!

So you see a photo and you draw whatever conclusions you want? I see why so many people are easily fooled. That picture was taken from an interview with Nas, Peter, both from Mass Appeal and Michael Gross from We Work. Mass Appeal's office is in a We Work space. The interview delves into that synergy.

Nas invested a high six figure sum into Mass Appeal. I don't know what his percentage is in the company. Other people have invested in MA as well; including Pusha T, Steve Stoute, and Usher.

Doesn’t matter fam. It’s all a narrative these cats wanna paint for daps. Also. The people complaining ain’t even blaming Nas. If anyone knew anything they would’ve known Nas didnt create the label. nikkas claim to be huge Roc Marci fans and don’t even realize shyt like Reloaded was released on Mass Appeal. Roc Marci dipped because he had issues with them and this is all prior to Nas being involved in any capacity. The place may need rebuilding from the ground up. I’m pretty sure Nas is seeing this and working something out.

I'm not going to go that far and say it needs to be rebuilt. I don't know what Roc Marc problem was so I can't say one has to do with the other.

Everybody getting exposed in 2020 I love it. Only platforms that I think are black owned is dgb, kollege kid, saycheese. But y'all Gotta realize if your an upcoming artist u want to get put on as many media platforms as possible even if it's ran by slick racist cacs to gain more clout. It's crazy because I remember right before the drill movement came out it was very hard to get on wshh, dirty glove b*stard, livemixtapes etc. Then around fall 2011 the drilling started getting broadcasted on social media opened up a whole new lane for ppl not even from the city eating off it that akademik character is prime example it's alot of dweebs eating off c00n gossip informant type of behavior
