Is Nas just an investor or does he actually have a title/job/responsibility at Mass Appeal?
I'd be surprised if Nas is involved in the day to day operation of Mass Appeal, things like hiring/firing. But I don't know.
@mson tagging you in case you know.

Edit: Reading is fundamental. Says he is an associate publisher in one of th articles.

That's what he was supposed to be. But the company got away from being a magazine a little while ago. They do numerous things. I don't know if Nas has an official title. He's just a partner. I think he helps them get interviews for their docs and shyt like that.

:usure:

I refuse to have 2020s Nas album sounding sonically subpar in the 2020s.

I slay the production curse with this post :ohlawd: :lawd:

Ain’t no production curse.

Nas has executive produced every one of his Def Jam albums except for Nasir. And over that time he’s worked with EVERY mainstream Hip Hop producer except Just Blaze. Including Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, Will I Am, Dr. Dre, DJ Toomp, Cool & Dre, DJ Khalil, Justice League, No ID, Alchemist, Polow Da Don, Pharrell, Da Internz, 40, RZA, Hit Boy, etc. The man been in the game 30 years

Nas doesn’t need another MC to pick his beats or produce his albums. It would be an INSULT to all he’s accomplished to even suggest such blasphemy

“We look at Mass Appeal as like an engine that creatives can plug into,” Bittenbender says. “Whether you’re a music artist, filmmaker, journalist, graphic designer — we are a place where you can come in, and we can help you realize your dreams.”

Mass Appeal had been dormant for some time when Bittenbender teamed with rapper Nas and director Sacha Jenkins to relaunch the brand in 2013. Now the company operates a music label in partnership with Universal Music. It also has a film and TV production arm, a brand consulting business and a creative advertising arm, the latter of which is a reliable “cash cow” for the company with clients that include Google. There’s also a ventures arm that is working on everything from a cannabis-related opportunity to content geared toward children of hip-hop generation parents.

Mass Appeal had put energy and resources into drawing visitors to a dedicated digital content hub. But Bittenbender switched gears to focusing on producing high-end fare for established buyers, a la the Showtime partnership on “Of Mics and Men.”

“We got out of that business at the right time to focus on what Mass Appeal is really great at — premium storytelling,” Bittenbender says.

he’s an investor with his partner/manager Anthony Saleh
Nas and Anthony most likely have no power at Mass Appeal at all.

They make small investments in a lot of companies like most venture capital funds do. Their average check size is 50k-100k (I worked at a company they invested in).

I’d imagine its a BIT more than just being an investor as he’s also signed to the label itself.

Not saying he’s the President or anything like that but i’m sure Nas himself could directly influence change for the better if he let it be known he is not pleased with discriminatory business practices.

This is how I look at it. U got people in here that think he owns it. And also people in here that underestimate his stake in it. I think it’s somewhere in the middle.

If he don’t own it then what’s the point, why is he choosing to sign to a racist white label again, when most of these artists are signing of the back of his name, smh.
