Comparing a company with under 5 white people to one that is 98% white is retarded.
I'm replying to this:
for everyone with an opinion here that posts adam 22 videos, complex, vladtv, genius, dj booth, needle drop reviews.

check yourself.

y'all have a hand in this as well. where are you sourcing your content from and who are YOU supporting. I'm really tired of this generations inability to account for individual responsibility. white people don't just pop up with successful businesses in our culture WE drive business to them.

at least I can look back at growing up in an era where the source dominated reporting on the culture. that strangle hold on the game was vicious. it is a generational thing. we got to a place where people handed out pieces of this thing to outsiders. it wasn't taken. the 90's fans would never have rolled with outside reporting on rap as dominantly as it is done today. let's stop talking about what they are taking and speak on what we are giving away.

It's gonna be people in here enraged who will continue to support outsiders reporting on the culture

nahright is dead eskay is ghost
2dopeboyz is dusty
Okayplayer is irrelevant

need I say more... Black platforms get tossed to the side by nikkaz all the time. Hold us accountable. If you just point fingers to cacs you a goddamn liar.

He is comparing these companies today to the Source back then like it wasn't started by white people. It was, the end.

Nas lost.

Certain people will never pass an opportunity to troll. God forbid you focus on actually having a serious discussion

The fact that these media companies are filled with caucasians is not breaking news. (remember roc nation pics, dame walking into DJ meeting, bobby smurda dancing on the table) All we learned today is that even the one co owned by afro centric nas is not exempt.

What I would ask is, how much is Nas even involved in their day to day operations.

It's not hard to make things look a certain way when the "boss" come around once in a while

The editor in Chief was Jonathan Shecter another founding member another Jewish guy. Yeah, the Source may have been Blacker than these current companies but to act like it was white boy free is false.
Well then I stand corrected. Despite being white owned they had a Black writers who gave them their authentic Black voice.

Ownership is vital but so is support. DJ booth build a huge platform out of nowhere and Black webspaces struggle through their whole existence. I tried to look up who owns HIPHOPDX and it's some media group that is based out of LA but their Office is registered in Manitoba Canada :mjpls:

I think Onsmash was blacked owned as well but they lost relevancy to worldstarr which has always been a very negative space even when it was Black owned but now it's a solid corporate entity of destruction. I think we have voices and we can shake this shyt by opting out of viewing or supporting and sharing from people who are not from the culture. Adam22 for one needs to go asap.

I heard a little story about Genius.

one of them kept saying Cam'ron was the reason they created it. apparently Cam wanted a percentage of the company at a certain price and got told no, they sold it for a lot of money and Cam missed out on a nice payday and since then he won't do anything with them in any capacity.

one of the Genius wife is/was a big Cam fan too. has a Cam'ron tattoo.
she worked in politics and was friends with Lena Dunham (red flag 1) and was in a relationship with Terry Richardson (red flag 2).

I'm sure DatPiff is another website created by a white guy because he loved Dipset mixtapes.
I wouldn't doubt datpiff is on there as well.

I've been looking at genius funny ever since their founders were on Combat Jack Show. He was calling them out hard too. Straight vultures. This is why I never rocked with the infamous "movement" dipset online hive because it was a bunch of white hipsters who loved to say fukk Nas.

Why don't you point out Vibe Magazine? Quincy Jones started that.

and this is why cacs run the culture... brehs looking sitting and waiting. someone needs to do something

oh someone will you keep waiting... the source was started in a dorm, genius was started in a dorm, complex was founded by a broke artist in Montreal...
Complex is Marc Ecko (aka an OG culture vulture) group.

Gonna drop some unsubstantiated but likely tea regarding Nas' involvement with these cacs. If we remember a few years ago Nas was in deep tax evasion trouble similar to what Joe Crack went thru. Fat Joe had to do a skid bid to get from underneath but Nas was able to avoid jail time. This guy Ben Horowitz who is a huge Nas stan has some juice with the government and was able to assist Nas to get the IRS off his back. I actually think Ben Horowitz is a decent guy but I think the favor for a favor here was Ben made Nas stand with these guys @ MS to give them some credibility as pay back for helping him get from underneath his tax situation.

Funny thing is if I made the same insinuating post about you or your family you will reply back heated about how I don't know you.

The leaps you people blindly make with no hesitation is hilarious.

Since you're on a roll, also breakdown his relationship with nike, sweetchick, Hennessy, QBVP, and Emagen

I really think this issue is similar to the issues @ the forefront today and that's white privilege. These white boys from some type of means were able to get venture capital, bank loans and industry support Black people trying to do similar couldn't. I don't think it has anything to do with Black customers supporting the right publication. The audience goes to where the best content is and I'm a bet it is split down the middle in that regard the difference is Black folks were not given the opportunity to grow their businesses.

In the past yes today with social media and technology at our disposal it's easier than every.

someone said it best how rich people teach their kids to take risks and thing bigger on financial level while people that come from the struggle are taught to survive. those habits make the difference in how we approach business. it's a form of priviledge to not have to worry about a job and bills so you can chase dreams and invest in your visions. the time alone is a luxury. but we gotta change that narrative.
