I think the bigger problem is the ambivalent white people who say nothing to their racist and bigoted friends,coworkers, and family members. Call them out. It doesn't effect their lives until something like this happens. They want to enjoy peace of mind by not getting involved, when that's such a dangerous stance to have. How can you fight an enemy who blends in with everyone else? Not every white person is a supremacist, but if they're afraid to out the ones who are then are they any better themselves? The same thing goes for ourselves. How can you fight an enemy, if you can't recognize the symbolism they use. The last few years a lot of fake news has been spread and memes have been used which originated from WS websites. Pizzagate for example was a huge one. Even covid misinformation. But far too often I see people resharing and spreading the memes they created. When you press them they claim they don't know the origins. Or when you see people use the same facts on Facebook to argue against "liberals" or democrats etc. Same verbatim across the board that usually originates from a WS message board. Know your enemy. Call people out for their shyt. Press your white friends to be on their people.
I know you live in Canada but seriously trumpism has become one big white cult. it's getting to the point where I'm starting to just become really discomforted by any white person in this country that even reps Republican because they're not too far away from this radicalization cycle themselves I've already seen it happened to people that ive had to distance from myself years ago.
