That track "wanna be" is really dope. Talking to these young kids trying to fit an image. Then that dude Marlon craft comes in and gives the young rapper perspective. Never heard of him but he killed it. That's why Ace is one of the GOATS. He doesn't over complicate his concepts but he still makes you think. This is a crazy comeback.

Man this album caught me by surprise. Didnt even know it was dropping but its blown me away with how clean it is. I fukked with the skits telling Marco's story too that was dope.

My goodness this dude is 51 but sounds like he’s in his early 30s. How does that happen? There's no wear and tear on his voice at all. There’s rappers 10+ years younger than him that sound totally washed.

I would imagine it's based on several factors like health/diet, lack of smoke exposure from weed & cigarettes, how often you tour year round, what you do to preserve your vocals like drinking hot tea after performances and so forth.

Plus with Ace dealing with MS, he prolly has his own version of Alex Guerrero helping him eat and live clean

Nothing mind blowing but a solid album.

It is amazing that Masta Ace not only still has skills, but doesn't sound like a panhandler asking you for change. A lot of rappers once they get into their 30s begin losing a lot and start sounding like they smoke 3 packs of Kools a day. He still sounds inspired and like he could hold his own against any of the younger lyrical rappers out now. It's 2018, has he ever released a straight up wack project? I don't think so. That's about 30 years of consistency. Who in this hip-hop shyt can say the same? Not LL. Not Ice-T. Not Ice Cube. Not Too $hort. They've all had wack albums.

Some of the beats are nice, but some of them are standard, stock, boom-bap that doesn't do much for me. The production mostly could have been on a Torae album circa 2008.

Overall 7 out of 10.

Okay, after listening a bunch of times...

These beats are fukking fire. Ace kills it, as usual. However, these stupid skits have to go. They are terrible. The voice acting is deplorable, specifically the guy pretending to be Marco Polo's dad. Pay someone $50 and get an actual voice actor. shyt is awful.

Yea Marco wanted to use the actual people and have the skits reflect the actual convos on how it went down.

As someone who loves ace albums, I do agree those skits age bad after few times
but they do help to build the concept, I can understand why he keeps using them.
plus it's so ace...
