This dude set a record for consecutive pick 6 thrown last season. I don't know why you'd want someone like that. I'd honestly have taken Mike Vick for as long as he lasts, and when he gets hurt stick Mcgloin or Pryor in.

:laff: So Raiders are really gonna trade for an outsider like Schuab, who was one of the WORST QB's last year, and are now going to make him the highest paid player on this team? :dead: We make 5 steps forward in progressing, than we take 20 steps backwards. Schaub was the reason why a team that was supposed to win 10+ games fukking sucked last season. Mentally he is shot, he doesn't have the Texans OL, Foster, Johnson and playing with a once in a lifetime generational player in JJ Watt. Have you seen his record against teams over .500??? :snoop: Such a terrible move, especially when we could have just waited for him to get released or gotten a cheaper stopgap QB. Schuab is the definition of mediocre, but I guess it makes sense that he is a Raider. :beli: We better take another QB in this draft, Schuab is a complete scrub and :trash: If he had Houston fans trying to run up in his house and fukking hated him, do you know how Oakland fans are gonna say or do when he fukks up??? :russ: This fukker just had the record for most games giving up INT's returned for TD's.

it all depends on the contract restructure breh.
schaub was awful last year, but before that he put up 4-5 years of above average qb'ing when he wasnt injured.
if you can get him for about 6ish million per, imo its a good gamble. at the very least he'll be a stopgap.

Schaub is worthless without a run game and a great receiver.

He's a one read, throw the ball to a safety valve QB if he can't use play action or throw the ball to a true number one.

And he's still an upgrade on what they had.

Don't know why they don't just go with drafting Clowney seeing as how a dominant defensive front can destroy a historical offense. Clowney and JJ Watt drawing double teams in the post season would make a QB make a ton of errant throws. But now they gotta wait for Manziel to develop. Worst comes to worst they could have tried to see how Fitzpatrick can manage a game behind that defense. If they still tank, next season they have their choice of stellar QB's: Winston, Mariota, Hundley, Petty, etc. They could have even went with Tahj Boyd in the 2nd+ round. If either happened they'd still have Clowney.

What Clowney looks like next to another beast lineman (Melvin Ingram):

Everyone wants to point out last season, but here's a breakdown by numbers from a poster on my team's message board:
Brooks conveniently fails to mention how many of Clowney's "pass rush" opportunities come against quick passes (< 2 seconds) and screens. And when teams do actually pass, about half the time they are either doubling, chipping, or rolling away from Clowney. Or that QB's have been getting rid of the ball nearly a full half second quicker when Clowney is on the field vs on the sideline (2.15 vs. 2.63). For perspective, the fastest anyone has been getting the ball out in the NFL this year is Matthew Stafford at 2.24. And the average this season has been 2.72. Because of this, Clowney has to either get to the QB amazingly fast or he won't get the sack. Both of his sacks this season have come in under 2.5 seconds. And he's still getting pressure at a very impressive clip even when he doesn't get home.

Disruption is production, even when it's not showing up in the stat sheet. Opposing coaches, if they're paying attention, are laughing at these "reports" about his lack of effort and impact... as they spend their week prior to playing the Game***** game planning around this very player. Kevin Weidl of ESPN charted Clowney's rushes against UGA. He had 20 pass rush attempts which resulted in 6 pressures, 1 sack, and 1 PD. He was doubled 5 times and of the 15 times he wasn't doubled, UGA ran quick (< 2 seconds) 7 times. He also charted the running plays that Clowney was out there for (nearly twice as many at 39... probably a coincidence). 27 of those attempts were run away from Clowney. Out of the 12 that came his direction, he made the TFL twice. People don't understand how impressive Clowney has been this year because they don't understand how few chances he's had due to offensive avoidance.

I normally would take the QB 9/10, but I don't think in their position a QB of that caliber should go with the top pick. I'd take Winston and Mariota over Clowney if they were eligible and decided to come out respectively, but not Manziel.

I'm not understanding the responses in here :dwillhuh:

Schaub is the best QB OAK has had since Rich Gannon and was a Pro Bowler a year ago. Last yr was a horrible year for EVERYONE in HOU, he could easily come back and feast. Low risk, high reward move for a veteran QB plus y'all only gave up a low round pick for him. Am I the only one who likes this move?
nikkas watch too much espn and listen to coli nikkas for his info. Schaub could damn sure ball out this year. They acting like they gave up a first for him or something. :dead:
