Rich Paul and Max Kellerman have had discussions about launching a new show with The Ringer, sources tell Front Office Sports.
Max Kellerman is a better sports commentator than Stephen A.
Always has been.
It’s just that for some stupid reason people find Stephen’s attitude and performance more entertaining.
I think the collaboration ran its course in part because of what Max said: essentially Stephen got tired of debating a smarter guy. But also because he just didn’t have the same chemistry that he did with Skip. Probably because they’re both low brow morons.

You’re not wrong.Kellerman is just not fit to be a lead on a live TV broadcast, it is what it is. It's just not his skillset
He thrives better in a long form, slowed down form of media where he can flesh out his thoughts and give longer breakdowns. This is why his current show, The Ring Magazine Podcast, it's a longer 2 hour show. He's doing great at that. Also did Radio, great at that as well
His time on First Take was clunky. He's just not a natural with quick witted hot takes, couldn't make his point in under 2 min, and had no comedic timing, etc
You can also look at when he was on HBO Boxing on a live broadcast, he was always the 3rd guy on the mic![]()
Max is not a better sports commentator. He’s more subdued, but he just as dumb and ignorant about sports as Stephen A, Columbia degree or not.Max Kellerman is a better sports commentator than Stephen A.

Every time I’m quoted by you I know I’m going to end up reading some bullshyt.Max is not a better sports commentator. He’s more subdued, but he just as dumb and ignorant about sports as Stephen A, Columbia degree or not.
He has volumes of footage (on both radio and TV) of stupid takes, being completely wrong, veiled racism, and being a know it all jackass. Basically like every other talking head. The myth that he was some great sports debater comes from people not liking Stephen A, not from his actual prowess.
There’s a reason no one besides local radio shows wanted him after First Take. No one willingly sits on the sideline in media for that long. No media company worth a damn wanted to invest in him until now.
In the words Dame Dash, Max sounds smart to someone who is dumb.

" is one of the funniest sports related takes in the history of basketball.
