Duran was a beast but he was also too slow to fukk with Floyds speed and the dudes defense was basura...He never saw a right hand he didn't let tag his chin and this would be his downfall against Floyd...

The fight would go down very similar to Floyd's battles with Castillo...Duran would score by pressuring Floyd and working the body but Floyd would be able to keep enough distance to land that straight right whenever he wants to and back off...In the later rounds Duran would fade and stand more in the center where Floyd would simply potshot and pull away to victory...

I doubt Floyd walks through him, I see him getting a decision in a fight where he will be put under considerable pressure.

Floyd was injured in that fight though, watch the Gatti fight and see what he does to come forward boxer punchers/brawlers, Duran lost to plenty of C class fighters but a fight Floyd won constatly gets brought up, and muthafukkers want to talk about unbiased

I agree with this statement...if you disagree state your case instead of attacking the poster. Make a winning arguement, I'm interested to hear why people would put him above Mayweather.

I won't count the vinny paz's and camacho's cuz he was well in his 40's (although not over the hill). He lost to DeJesus and Benitez and Simms and was upset by Laing (upset of the year).

The positives is the # of matches he fought, so he had a lot of wear and tear and more chances to be upset. And he was fighting 15 rounders, although most of his wins didn't go past 5 rounds. Lastly, he did fight ALOT of bums...

hand speed and the Mayweather defense would really put Duran out of his element. As good as SRL was, he was hittable unlike Mayweather.

I wasn't even disagreeing with him saying Mayweather would win the fight. The disagreement is coming because he is saying that Duran is an average fighter or Mayorga status, which really doesn't even deserve a rebuttal.

Seems like a lot of people are showing their age or lack of boxing knowledge in this thread. I think Mayweather would win a hard fought decision if it was schedduled for 12. But he would go through hell to get it. Duran was an absoloute monster at 135. One of the all time greats. This man was considered to be the greatest boxer at that weight ever. He would give Floyd problems all day, just think Floyds defensive prowess would help him prevail. But in a 15 rounder i think Duran would wear him down with the body punches and knock him out.

If a 15 round trained fighter learns he only has to fight 12 rounds, you don't believe he'll up the intensity since he doesn't have to fight 3 extra rounds?

Any fighter who can take 2 out of 3 against prime Esteban De Jesus, go toe to toe with prime Marvin Hagler and beat prime Sugar Ray Leonard has MORE than a shot at taking a W against Money May...

Duran never truly competed at 140...it was 135, 147, 154, 160, etc

the only times he fought near or around 140 was in-between title defenses, but didn't want to tangle with the likes of Antonio Cervantes and up-and-coming Wilfred Benitez (well, he'd see him later anyway )
