The Sweet Science
Did you see the fight? Castillo dictated the pace of the fight and was putting the pressure on him. He was smothering Floyd, not letting him get his shots off and hitting him with body head combos....and Floyd was doing the shoulder roll way before the Castillo fight too. Floyd is one of the best to do it but he lost that fight and it would not be impossible to suggest that he could lose to Duran

Except for the fact that he didnt lose the fight. Floyd won more rounds and got the win. Most certainly a close fight but still a Floyd win. Plus any pressure he put on Floyd or "smothering" of him as you say was predicated on the fact that Castillo weighed in 10lbs heavier than Floyd. Duran is not coming into the fight 10lbs heavier than Floyd add to it Castillo had 3 inches of reach on Duran.

I got Floyd over Duran, just to quick & crafty. He would definitely win 7 rounds based on his physical advantages alone. He'd execute Rays game plan the 1st time around.

Floyd vs Ray I cant really call it. I think they both could beat eachother. There is a game plan both could execute to win. Ray is definitely more hittable than Floyd. Ray is naturally bigger & stronger & as fast(not as quick) as Floyd.:hula: :manny:

Floyd vs Hearns. I got a hard time seeing Floyd being able to beat Hearns truthfully. Hearns height, reach, & boxing ability, would be too much imo. Floyd don't have the physicality to beat Tommy ala Leonard or Hagler.

Hagler the greatest middleweight ever, no need to even argue this one.
Crazy as it sounds, I think Floyd would have a better chance against Hagler than Hearns. But I wouldn't argue Floyd over Hagler regardless.
Prime Bhop would beat Hagler IMO.

Ray really only got to Hearns because Hearns wore down late and Ray had the size, strength & power to hurt Hearns. Floyd doesn't have that. He's not as naturally big or as strong as Ray was.

Again with Hagler, Floyd doesn't have the size or power to be fighting the best middle weight ever. Maybe Floyd could score & run all night against Hagler, but I doubt it. But he sure couldn't fight & beat Hearns that way. Tommy just had too many physical advantages in a head-to-head. That's not to say that you can't rank Floyd over these guys as an overall fighter. That's a different argument.

Anybody that says Hearns or Duran would beat Floyd is drunk. I always ask neggas how is Ray is better than FLoyd and they could never answer.

The problem is back then boxers were not as polished. I watch a lot of Ray's fights and no way he would be as dominant today. Floyd would make him easy work

When FLoyd retires, ppl will see what he represented and what he was for boxing. The dude is Top 3 ever. No doubt

Alpo, Mastermind is a huge Mayweather fan despite his opinions. He's been called a Mayweather Stan too many times.

Respect the fighters of the past:bryan:

Like people didn't see a man named Floyd Sr, shotgun pellets in his leg and all win 4-5 rounds vs SRL and have him confused and befuddled with his D, we all know lil Floyd is better than his pops by leaps and bounds

Damn, I thought I was a Floyd stan.:pachaha:

So a skilled fighter with great reach, speed, power, and boxing ability who basically knocked out almost every Welter to step into the ring with him and who has mad knockout victories up and through the Light Heavyweight division has no chance head to head against Lil Floyd?

What's Floyd strategy against Hearns at 147? If I'm drunk, drop that sobering knowledge on me breh.

:childplease: I watched this fight with the biggest Floyd stan that I know and he admitted that Floyd lost. That dosen't mean that he's not one of the greatest to do it.

And Duran slips better than Castillo, hits harder and is better at pressuring than Castillo.

Are we still talking about a Floyd Mayweather fight with Castillo 1/3 of the way into his professional career?

I mean...think about that.

I loved Roberto Duran....but he had a reckless style at times which would play well to Floyd's style.

Also, what we have to understand about Floyd is that the people who trained him were reared by fighting the Leonards and Duran's and built Floyd based on those experiences. So more than likely, he's built to fight those guys.

If floyd had to fight against hagler, hearns, duran, and srl, he would not go undefeated in all those fights especially if rematches are involved. It would probably be a split for most of the fights.

shiiiiiiiiiiiiid...

marvin hit hard..n majority of his wins was from kos...tommy hearns got destroyed with ease...n hearns put up a better fight with leonard

Better? Hearns basically beat Leonard twice. Leonard gets props for doing what he had to do late in the 1st fight though.
