Long.Live. A$AP is the album of the year, it's the most critically acclaimed main stream release this year. It has 10 bangers (Long.Live A$AP, Goldie, PMW, LVL, Hell, Pain, Phoenix, Suddenly, fukkin' Problems, Ghetto Symphony, Angels, Pretty Flacko and Purple Swag Remix).

I fukks with Magna Carta it has a few summer bangers, but it isn't album of the year. Born Sinner was also better. The Gifted is WAY overrated on the Coli.

Long. Live. A$AP is a good contender but come on.. it's not seeing the production or bars on MCHG. Born Sinner? :camby: Every song on that shyt is the SAME SONG

I think it is & that's testament to this being the most dissapointing year in hiphop ever, everyone was anticipating vets like ye, em & hov all droppin & new gen cats like Cole, Drake, Rocky and saying they were about to prove we're in a new golden generation, only thing that's been proved is this is generation average.

:yeshrug: I think the production on Long.Live.A$AP is much better, but I can see where you are coming from. I don't think MCHG has as many songs you just:wow: to.

A$AP was more lyrical than Jay :comeon:

What Magna Carta songs are touching these lyrically

A$AP's first verse on Suddenly is one of the best verses of the year, he put his heart into that one and it was a deep introspective track :wow:

Production wise they were both tight, but A$AP's beats are just different from anything I ever heard.

Breh those songs were not as lyrical, Jay was overshadowed by Frank Ocean and JT's hooks on Holy Grail and Oceans. The subject matter and bars on Suddenly are better than any song on Magna Carta, Rocky looks back to his upbringing in Harlem, his mother watches Oprah while his father cooked crack in the kitchen, his brother was a thug and was packing heat, he talks about his rise to fame peep how he speeded up his flow in the second verse to show that ascension to fame came quickly (suddenly), the bars were tight.

"Roaches on the wall, roaches on the dresser
Everybody had roaches but our roaches ain't respect us
On the park bench playing checkers, sipping nectar

Girbaud jeans with hologram straps and reflectors
We had cookouts and dirt bikes and dice games and fist fights

And fish fries and shootouts like one Sig with two rounds
And one clip left two down, that's four kids but one lived
Left three dead, but one split, that one miss, that one snitch
That's everyday shyt, shyt we used to that
"

How can you hate on that? Not only that but Rocky is also paying homage to guys like Puff, Busta Rhymes, Eazy, etc.

Honestly, Jay was only lyrical on Nickels and Dimes, the rest is whip bangers with slick punchlines.

This nikka Rocky was flowing like 3Stacks in his prime on Ghetto Symphony. :blessed:

Peep how he started Hell "We used to wear rugged boots now it's all tailored suits, Audemars Piguets for my criminal recruits" :wow:

I thought Pain was :ahh:, that nikka Overdoz killed his verse and Rocky's verse was tight and whole chopped and screwed was nice.

I didn't like songs like Fashion Killa, Wild 4 Da Night or F*cking Problems :manny:

People are sleeping on Jay's lyrics on MCHG. Yes, there's some songs where he's lazy, but there's a lot of gems on the album. "Holy Grail", "Heaven" (quite possibly the most lyrical song on the album), "Jay Z Blue", "F.U.T.W.", and "Oceans" are songs that showcased Jay Z lyrically.

Lyrically, Jay Z isn't as witty and he isn't consistently droppin' the double entendres like he used to, but he can still deliver some good to great verses.
