Meek is so overrated

Can we be honest, Meek hasn't brought anything to rap except that intro, he only started off with momentum because he rode the mmg wave into the game. That freestyle on hot 97 was so subpar and they gave him the super Chris Paul lob with that beat and he couldn't even ride it properly. I'm not coming at this as a meek hater or a game or drake fan just a fan of the genre, he hasn't really done anything really noteworthy, I need opinions cause I don't think I'm bugging.

As someone who started listening to him pre DC days, courtesy of my cousin who lives in West Philly

He had an extensive pre- DC mixtape catalog.
Not only that, DC 1 and 2 are classic tapes. He had a solid debut album, a pretty good Sophomore. And LOADSSSSS of bangers, and tracks over other people's beats that he murdered.

Damn good story teller, always brings energy, and paints the streets and struggle in a way that not many rappers can. On top of that he's Just a pure rapper.

As far as him riding a wave into the game. That's what all artist do.

Chances are most people don't know who Drake is without riding that YM wave, and damn near 5 features from the biggest artist in the world at the time (Weezy).

You get in how you get in. No one does it alone.

I rarely ever hear a meek song that I think is trash. I can listen to most, I'f not all his albums all the way through. I can't really say the same about most other rappers.

I didn't even like DWMTM the first listen thru, check my review on this project on this site. It grew on me a lot tho. I say this so you know I'm not on some dikkrider shyt.

But to say he's trash, can't write, has no artistic state of mind, it's all lies. Even in a freestyle he shows helps beautifully he can flow his words together. The passion, aggression.

He reminds me of DMX in a lot ways. Bars are GOOD, but his bread and butter is passion, and aggression. That's not to say he's as great as X, it's to say that who I see in him a lot. The raw imagery and the fact that you CAN FEEL IT when he raps.

I Meek didnt have the streets on lock prior to all the Drake beef. I guess Levels wasn't a huge banger. I guess DC1 and DC2 didn't run shyt in the summers of 11' and 12' huh.
