What I wanna know with these artists when they say this is are they not getting publishing checks because as far as I know those are not given by the label but by BMI, Ascap, etc. Don't they get an advance every album? Is that not a check from the label?

they get the advance but after they recoup they are suppose to start seeing a split of the revenue from the project

thats their album budget. the advance is for living expenses and whatever is needed for their album. it has to be recouped. its basically a loan
