In California the police will run GSR tests if they find a gun on any person. For safety. You have someone bleeding, that could be self inflicted. They would of tested every one in the car. Her testimony or statement means nothing in California.
Do you know how easy it is to get somebody charged before a grand jury? You can use hearsay and other evidence that isnt admissible in a trial.
