I’ve listened to a lot of doja, she sings, and her “raps” ain’t really rapping, it’s that talk rap shyt a lot of female singers do. But if you’d suggest her as a female rapper the check out, do you. :hubie:

Her name’s been mentioned at least 5 times in this thread so I ain’t the only one.

that's why my first post said "yall"...

speaks to a bigger issue about what gets categorized as rap/what labels are given to "black" artists, but that's for a whole other thread.

No different from Lauryn or even Latifah.

They both have made albums that are majority singing but I still consider them rappers.

latifah came out rapping and spent more time rapping, and actually rapped, so yes, she got labeled a rapper, but no one introduced her as a rapper when she was out performing her jazz album

lauryn again, an actual rapper, and she's often referred to as "rapper and singer"

doja is not legitimately rapping, that's what i'm getting at, furthermore, if she were 100% white people wouldn't call her a rapper, she'd just be multi genre pop artist. like i said, this is much bigger conversation than warranted within a megan the stallion thread and i'm not going back and forth. you think she's a rapper, cool. that's not what i'd categorize her as, especially not as an alternative to check out vs megan.

Tape was cool but she getting a little redundant.

Period is still my favorite female tape that has come out in the past few years.
